in his old age

לִזְקֻנָֽיו׃

וַיִּגְדַּ֥ל

And the child

הַיֶּ֖לֶד

and was weaned

הִגָּמֵ֥ל

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ

and Abraham

מִשְׁתֶּ֣ה

in all that Sarah

שָׂרָ֖ה

unto thee hearken

שְׁמַ֣ע

unto her voice

for in Isaac

בְיִצְחָ֔ק

be called

יִקָּרֵ֥א

 

לְךָ֖

shall thy seed

זָֽרַע׃

 

וְגַ֥ם

And also of the son

בֶּן

of the bondwoman

הָֽאָמָ֖ה

a nation

לְג֣וֹי

will I make

אֲשִׂימֶ֑נּוּ

 

כִּ֥י

because he is thy seed

זַרְעֲךָ֖

 

הֽוּא׃

rose up early

וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֣ם

And Abraham

אַבְרָהָ֣ם׀

in the morning

בַּבֹּ֡קֶר

and took

וַיִּֽקַּֽח

bread

לֶחֶם֩

and a bottle

וְחֵ֨מַת

of water

מַ֜יִם

and gave

וַיִּתֵּ֣ן

 

אֶל

it unto Hagar

הָ֠גָר

putting

שָׂ֧ם

 

עַל

it on her shoulder

שִׁכְמָ֛הּ

 

וְאֶת

and the child

הַיֶּ֖לֶד

and sent her away

וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֶ֑הָ

 

וַתֵּ֣לֶךְ

in the wilderness

a well

בְּאֵ֣ר

וַתֵּ֜לֶךְ

and filled

and gave

וַתַּ֖שְׁקְ

הַנָּֽעַר׃

and dwelt

לֵאמֹ֑ר

אֱלֹהִ֣ים

 

עִמְּךָ֔

אֲשֶׁר

 

אַתָּ֖ה

is with thee in all that thou doest

עֹשֶֽׂה׃

 

וְעַתָּ֗ה

Now therefore swear

הִשָּׁ֨בְעָה

 

לִּ֤י

by God

בֵֽאלֹהִים֙

unto me here

הֵ֔נָּה

 

אִם

that thou wilt not deal falsely

תִּשְׁקֹ֣ר

 

לִ֔י

with me nor with my son

וּלְנִינִ֖י

nor with my son's son

וּלְנֶכְדִּ֑י

but according to the kindness

כַּחֶ֜סֶד

 

אֲשֶׁר

that I have done

תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה

 

עִמְּךָ֙

that I have done

תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה

 

עִמָּדִ֔י

 

וְעִם

unto me and to the land

הָאָ֖רֶץ

 

אֲשֶׁר

wherein thou hast sojourned

גַּ֥רְתָּה

 

בָּֽהּ׃

said

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

And Abraham

אַבְרָהָ֔ם

 

אָֽנֹכִ֖י

I will swear

אִשָּׁבֵֽעַ׃

reproved

וְהוֹכִ֥חַ

And Abraham

Abimelech

אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃

אֹדוֹת֙

of a well

בְּאֵ֣ר

הַמַּ֔יִם

עַבְדֵ֥י

Abimelech

אֲבִימֶֽלֶךְ׃

said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Abimelech

יָדַ֔עְתִּי

עָשָׂ֖ה

הַדָּבָ֣ר

הִגַּ֣דְתָּ

אָֽנֹכִ֛י

הַיּֽוֹם׃

וַיִּקַּ֤ח

And Abraham

אַבְרָהָם֙

sheep

צֹ֣אן

and oxen

וּבָקָ֔ר

and gave

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

them unto Abimelech

לַֽאֲבִימֶ֑לֶךְ

made

וַיִּכְרְת֥וּ

and both of them

שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם

a covenant

בְּרִֽית׃

set

וַיַּצֵּ֣ב

And Abraham

אַבְרָהָ֗ם

 

אֶת

seven

שֶׁ֛בַע

ewe lambs

כִּבְשֹׂ֥ת

of the flock

הַצֹּ֖אן

 

לְבַדְּהֶֽן׃

said

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר

And Abimelech

אֲבִימֶ֖לֶךְ

 

אֶל

unto Abraham

אַבְרָהָ֑ם

 

מָ֣ה

 

הֵ֗נָּה

mean these seven

שֶׁ֤בַע

ewe lambs

כְּבָשֹׂת֙

 

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

which thou hast set

הִצַּ֖בְתָּ

 

לְבַדָּֽנָה׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

 

כִּ֚י

 

אֶת

For these seven

שֶׁ֣בַע

ewe lambs

כְּבָשֹׂ֔ת

shalt thou take

תִּקַּ֖ח

of my hand

מִיָּדִ֑י

that

בַּֽעֲבוּר֙

 

תִּֽהְיֶה

 

לִּ֣י

they may be a witness

לְעֵדָ֔ה

 

כִּ֥י

unto me that I have digged

חָפַ֖רְתִּי

 

אֶת

this well

הַבְּאֵ֥ר

 

הַזֹּֽאת׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֗ן

Wherefore he called

קָרָ֛א

that place

לַמָּק֥וֹם

 

הַה֖וּא

 

בְּאֵ֣ר

Beersheba

שָׁ֑בַע

 

כִּ֛י

 

שָׁ֥ם

because there they sware

נִשְׁבְּע֖וּ

both of them

שְׁנֵיהֶֽם׃

Thus they made

וַיִּכְרְת֥וּ

a covenant

בְרִ֖ית

 

בִּבְאֵ֣ר

at Beersheba

שָׁ֑בַע

rose up

וַיָּ֣קָם

then Abimelech

אֲבִימֶ֗לֶךְ

and Phichol

וּפִיכֹל֙

the chief captain

שַׂר

of his host

צְבָא֔וֹ

and they returned

וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ

 

אֶל

into the land

אֶ֥רֶץ

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

And Abraham planted

וַיִּטַּ֥ע

a grove

אֶ֖שֶׁל

 

בִּבְאֵ֣ר

in Beersheba

שָׁ֑בַע

and called

וַיִּ֨קְרָא

 

שָׁ֔ם

there on the name

בְּשֵׁ֥ם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

God

אֵ֥ל

the everlasting

עוֹלָֽם׃

sojourned

And Abraham
