And I will camp

וְחָנִ֥יתִי

against thee round about

כַדּ֖וּר

 

עָלָ֑יִךְ

and will lay siege

וְצַרְתִּ֤י

 

עָלַ֙יִךְ֙

against thee with a mount

מֻצָּ֔ב

and I will raise

וַהֲקִֽימֹתִ֥י

 

עָלַ֖יִךְ

forts

מְצֻרֹֽת׃

And thou shalt be brought down

וְשָׁפַלְתְּ֙

out of the ground

מֵאֶ֙רֶץ֙

and shalt speak

תְּדַבֵּ֔רִי

out of the dust

וּמֵעָפָ֖ר

shall be low

תִּשַּׁ֣ח

and thy speech

אִמְרָתֵ֥ךְ

 

וְֽ֠הָיָה

shall be as of one that hath a familiar spirit

כְּא֤וֹב

out of the ground

מֵאֶ֙רֶץ֙

and thy voice

קוֹלֵ֔ךְ

out of the dust

וּמֵעָפָ֖ר

and thy speech

אִמְרָתֵ֥ךְ

shall whisper

תְּצַפְצֵֽף׃

 

וְהָיָ֛ה

dust

כְּאָבָ֥ק

shall be like small

דַּ֖ק

Moreover the multitude

הֲמ֣וֹן

of thy strangers

זָרָ֑יִךְ

shall be as chaff

וּכְמֹ֤ץ

that passeth away

עֹבֵר֙

Moreover the multitude

הֲמ֣וֹן

of the terrible ones

עָֽרִיצִ֔ים

 

וְהָיָ֖ה

yea it shall be at an instant

לְפֶ֥תַע

suddenly

פִּתְאֹֽם׃

 

מֵעִ֨ם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

of hosts

צְבָאוֹת֙

Thou shalt be visited

תִּפָּקֵ֔ד

with thunder

בְּרַ֥עַם

and with earthquake

וּבְרַ֖עַשׁ

noise

וְק֣וֹל

and great

גָּד֑וֹל

with storm

סוּפָה֙

and tempest

וּסְעָרָ֔ה

and the flame

וְלַ֖הַב

fire

אֵ֥שׁ

of devouring

אוֹכֵלָֽה׃

 

וְהָיָ֗ה

her shall be as a dream

כַּֽחֲלוֹם֙

vision

חֲז֣וֹן

of a night

לַ֔יְלָה

And the multitude

הֲמוֹן֙

 

כָּל

of all the nations

הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

that fight

צֹבֶ֙יהָ֙

 

עַל

against Ariel

אֲרִיאֵ֑ל

 

וְכָל

that fight

צֹבֶ֙יהָ֙

against her and her munition

וּמְצֹ֣דָתָ֔הּ

and that distress

וְהַמְּצִיקִ֖ים

 

לָֽהּ׃

 

וְהָיָ֡ה

or as when

וְכַאֲשֶׁ֨ר

dreameth

יַחֲלֹ֤ם

It shall even be as when an hungry

הָרָעֵ֜ב

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

and behold he eateth

אוֹכֵ֗ל

but he awaketh

וְהֵקִיץ֙

is empty

וְרֵיקָ֣ה

and his soul

וְנַפְשׁ֖וֹ

or as when

וְכַאֲשֶׁ֨ר

dreameth

יַחֲלֹ֤ם

a thirsty man

הַצָּמֵא֙

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

and behold he drinketh

שֹׁתֶ֔ה

but he awaketh

וְהֵקִיץ֙

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

and behold he is faint

עָיֵ֔ף

and his soul

וְנַפְשׁ֖וֹ

hath appetite

שׁוֹקֵקָ֑ה

 

כֵּ֣ן

 

יִֽהְיֶ֗ה

so shall the multitude

הֲמוֹן֙

 

כָּל

of all the nations

הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

be that fight

הַצֹּבְאִ֖ים

 

עַל

against mount

הַ֥ר

Zion

צִיּֽוֹן׃

Stay

הִתְמַהְמְה֣וּ

yourselves and wonder

וּתְמָ֔הוּ

and cry

וָשֹׁ֑עוּ

and cry

וָשֹׁ֑עוּ

they are drunken

שָֽׁכְר֣וּ

 

וְלֹא

but not with wine

יַ֔יִן

they stagger

נָע֖וּ

 

וְלֹ֥א

but not with strong drink

שֵׁכָֽר׃

 

כִּֽי

hath poured out

נָסַ֨ךְ

 

עֲלֵיכֶ֤ם

For the LORD

יְהוָה֙

upon you the spirit

ר֣וּחַ

of deep sleep

תַּרְדֵּמָ֔ה

and hath closed

וַיְעַצֵּ֖ם

 

אֶת

your eyes

עֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם

 

אֶת

the prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֛ים

 

וְאֶת

and your rulers

רָאשֵׁיכֶ֥ם

the seers

הַחֹזִ֖ים

hath he covered

כִּסָּֽה׃

 

וַתְּהִ֨י

 

לָכֶ֜ם

And the vision

חָז֣וּת

of all is become unto you as the words

כְּדִבְרֵי֮

Wherefore the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֗י

Forasmuch

יַ֚עַן

 

כִּ֤י

draw near

נִגַּשׁ֙

as this people

הָעָ֣ם

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

me with their mouth

בְּפִ֤יו

and with their lips

וּבִשְׂפָתָיו֙

do honour

כִּבְּד֔וּנִי

their heart

וְלִבּ֖וֹ

far

רִחַ֣ק

 

מִמֶּ֑נִּי

 

וַתְּהִ֤י

 

יִרְאָתָם֙

 

אֹתִ֔י

by the precept

מִצְוַ֥ת

 

אֲנָשִׁ֖ים

toward me is taught

מְלֻמָּדָֽה׃

 

לָכֵ֗ן

 

הִנְנִ֥י

Therefore behold I will proceed

יוֹסִ֛ף

even a marvellous work

הַפְלֵ֣א

 

אֶת

among this people

הָֽעָם

 

הַזֶּ֖ה

even a marvellous work

הַפְלֵ֣א

and a wonder

וָפֶ֑לֶא

men shall perish

וְאָֽבְדָה֙

for the wisdom

חָכְמַ֣ת

of their wise

חֲכָמָ֔יו

and the understanding

וּבִינַ֥ת

of their prudent

נְבֹנָ֖יו

men shall be hid

תִּסְתַּתָּֽר׃

Woe

ה֛וֹי

unto them that seek deep

הַמַּעֲמִיקִ֥ים

from the LORD

מֵֽיהוָ֖ה

to hide

לַסְתִּ֣ר

their counsel

עֵצָ֑ה

 

וְהָיָ֤ה

are in the dark

בְמַחְשָׁךְ֙

and their works

מַֽעֲשֵׂיהֶ֔ם

and they say

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

 

מִ֥י

Who seeth

רֹאֵ֖נוּ

 

וּמִ֥י

us and who knoweth

יֹדְעֵֽנוּ׃

Surely your turning of things upside down

הַ֨פְכְּכֶ֔ם

 

אִם

clay

כְּחֹ֥מֶר

as the potter's

לְיֹצְר֖וֹ

shall be esteemed

יֵֽחָשֵׁ֑ב

 

כִּֽי

אָמַ֥ר

for shall the work

מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה

וְהַכַּרְמֶ֖ל

and the fruitful field

as a forest

לַיַּ֥עַר

shall be esteemed

יֵחָשֵֽׁב׃

hear

וְשָׁמְע֧וּ

And in that day

בַיּוֹם

 

הַה֛וּא

shall the deaf

הַחֵרְשִׁ֖ים

the words

דִּבְרֵי

of the book

סֵ֑פֶר

out of obscurity

וּמֵאֹ֣פֶל

and out of darkness

וּמֵחֹ֔שֶׁךְ

and the eyes

עֵינֵ֥י

of the blind

עִוְרִ֖ים

shall see

תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃

also shall increase

וְיָסְפ֧וּ

The meek

עֲנָוִ֛ים

in the LORD

בַּֽיהוָ֖ה

their joy

שִׂמְחָ֑ה

and the poor

וְאֶבְיוֹנֵ֣י

among men

אָדָ֔ם

in the Holy One

בִּקְד֥וֹשׁ

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

shall rejoice

יָגִֽילוּ׃

 

כִּֽי

is brought to nought

אָפֵ֥ס

For the terrible one

עָרִ֖יץ

is consumed

וְכָ֣לָה

and the scorner

לֵ֑ץ

are cut off

וְנִכְרְת֖וּ

 

כָּל

and all that watch

שֹׁ֥קְדֵי

for iniquity

אָֽוֶן׃

an offender

מַחֲטִיאֵ֤י

That make a man

אָדָם֙

for a word

בְּדָבָ֔ר

for him that reproveth

וְלַמּוֹכִ֥יחַ

in the gate

בַּשַּׁ֖עַר

and lay a snare

יְקֹשׁ֑וּן

and turn aside

וַיַּטּ֥וּ

for a thing of nought

בַתֹּ֖הוּ

the just

צַדִּֽיק׃

Therefore thus saith

אָמַ֤ר

the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

אֶל

concerning the house

בֵּ֣ית

Jacob

יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

who redeemed

פָּדָ֖ה

 

אֶת

Abraham

אַבְרָהָ֑ם

 

לֹֽא

 

עַתָּ֤ה

shall not now be ashamed

יֵבוֹשׁ֙

Jacob

יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב

 

וְלֹ֥א

 

עַתָּ֖ה

neither shall his face

פָּנָ֥יו

now wax pale

יֶחֱוָֽרוּ׃

 

כִּ֣י

But when he seeth

בִ֠רְאֹתוֹ

his children

יְלָדָ֞יו

the work

מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה

of mine hands

יָדַ֛י

in the midst

בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ

and sanctify

וְהִקְדִּ֙ישׁוּ֙

my name

שְׁמִ֑י

and sanctify

וְהִקְדִּ֙ישׁוּ֙

of Jacob

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

They also that erred

and they that murmured
