לֶ֭אֱלוֹהַּ

and he answereth

וַֽיַּעֲנֵ֑הוּ

I am as one mocked

שְׂ֝ח֗וֹק

upright

תָּמִֽים׃

is as a lamp

לַפִּ֣יד

despised

בּ֭וּז

in the thought

לְעַשְׁתּ֣וּת

שַׁאֲנָ֑ן

He that is ready

נָ֝כ֗וֹן

to slip

לְמ֣וֹעֲדֵי

with his feet

רָֽגֶל׃

prosper

יִשְׁלָ֤יוּ

The tabernacles

אֹֽהָלִ֨ים׀

of robbers

לְשֹׁ֥דְדִ֗ים

are secure

וּֽ֭בַטֻּחוֹת

and they that provoke

לְמַרְגִּ֣יזֵי

God

אֵ֑ל

 

לַאֲשֶׁ֤ר

bringeth

הֵבִ֖יא

God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

into whose hand

בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

But

וְֽאוּלָ֗ם

ask

שְׁאַל

 

נָ֣א

now the beasts

בְהֵמ֣וֹת

and they shall teach

וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ

thee and the fowls

וְע֥וֹף

of the air

הַ֝שָּׁמַ֗יִם

and they shall tell

וְיַגֶּד

 

לָֽךְ׃

 

א֤וֹ

Or speak

שִׂ֣יחַ

to the earth

לָאָ֣רֶץ

and it shall teach

וְתֹרֶ֑ךָּ

shall declare

וִֽיסַפְּר֥וּ

 

לְ֝ךָ֗

thee and the fishes

דְּגֵ֣י

of the sea

הַיָּֽם׃

Who knoweth

יָדַ֣ע

 

בְּכָל

 

אֵ֑לֶּה

not in all these that the hand

יַד

of the LORD

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

hath wrought

עָ֣שְׂתָה

 

זֹּֽאת׃

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

In whose hand

בְּ֭יָדוֹ

is the soul

נֶ֣פֶשׁ

 

כָּל

of every living thing

חָ֑י

and the breath

וְ֝ר֗וּחַ

 

כָּל

 

בְּשַׂר

of all mankind

אִֽישׁ׃

 

הֲלֹא

Doth not the ear

אֹ֭זֶן

תִּבְחָ֑ן

and the mouth

וְ֝חֵ֗ךְ

his meat

אֹ֣כֶל

taste

יִטְעַם

 

לֽוֹ׃

With the ancient

בִּֽישִׁישִׁ֥ים

is wisdom

חָכְמָ֑ה

and in length

וְאֹ֖רֶךְ

of days

יָמִ֣ים

understanding

תְּבוּנָֽה׃

 

עִ֭מּוֹ

With him is wisdom

חָכְמָ֣ה

and strength

וּגְבוּרָ֑ה

 

ל֝֗וֹ

he hath counsel

עֵצָ֥ה

and understanding

וּתְבוּנָֽה׃

 

הֵ֣ן

Behold he breaketh down

יַ֭הֲרוֹס

 

וְלֹ֣א

and it cannot be built again

יִבָּנֶ֑ה

he shutteth up

יִסְגֹּ֥ר

 

עַל

a man

אִ֝֗ישׁ

 

וְלֹ֣א

and there can be no opening

יִפָּתֵֽחַ׃

 

הֵ֤ן

Behold he withholdeth

יַעְצֹ֣ר

the waters

בַּמַּ֣יִם

and they dry up

וְיִבָ֑שׁוּ

also he sendeth them out

וִֽ֝ישַׁלְּחֵ֗ם

and they overturn

וְיַ֖הַפְכוּ

the earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

 

עִ֭מּוֹ

With him is strength

עֹ֣ז

and wisdom

וְתֽוּשִׁיָּ֑ה

 

ל֝֗וֹ

the deceived

שֹׁגֵ֥ג

and the deceiver

וּמַשְׁגֶּֽה׃

 

מוֹלִ֣יךְ

counsellors

יוֹעֲצִ֣ים

away spoiled

שׁוֹלָ֑ל

and maketh the judges

וְֽשֹׁפְטִ֥ים

fools

יְהוֹלֵֽל׃

the bond

מוּסַ֣ר

of kings

מְלָכִ֣ים

He looseth

פִּתֵּ֑חַ

and girdeth

וַיֶּאְסֹ֥ר

with a girdle

אֵ֝ז֗וֹר

their loins

בְּמָתְנֵיהֶֽם׃

 

מוֹלִ֣יךְ

princes

כֹּהֲנִ֣ים

away spoiled

שׁוֹלָ֑ל

the mighty

וְאֵֽתָנִ֣ים

and overthroweth

יְסַלֵּֽף׃

He removeth away

מֵסִ֣יר

the speech

שָׂ֭פָה

of the trusty

לְנֶאֱמָנִ֑ים

the understanding

וְטַ֖עַם

of the aged

זְקֵנִ֣ים

and taketh away

יִקָּֽח׃

He poureth

שׁוֹפֵ֣ךְ

contempt

בּ֭וּז

 

עַל

upon princes

נְדִיבִ֑ים

the strength

וּמְזִ֖יחַ

of the mighty

אֲפִיקִ֣ים

and weakeneth

רִפָּֽה׃

He discovereth

מְגַלֶּ֣ה

deep things

עֲ֭מֻקוֹת

 

מִנִּי

out of darkness

חֹ֑שֶׁךְ

and bringeth out

וַיֹּצֵ֖א

to light

לָא֣וֹר

the shadow of death

צַלְמָֽוֶת׃

He increaseth

מַשְׂגִּ֣יא

the nations

לַ֝גּוֹיִ֗ם

and destroyeth

וַֽיְאַבְּדֵ֑ם

them he enlargeth

שֹׁטֵ֥חַ

the nations

לַ֝גּוֹיִ֗ם

and straiteneth

וַיַּנְחֵֽם׃

He taketh away

מֵסִ֗יר

the heart

לֵ֭ב

of the chief

רָאשֵׁ֣י

of the people

עַם

of the earth

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and causeth them to wander

וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם

in a wilderness

בְּתֹ֣הוּ

 

לֹא

where there is no way

דָֽרֶךְ׃

They grope

יְמַֽשְׁשׁוּ

in the dark

חֹ֥שֶׁךְ

 

וְלֹא

without light

א֑וֹר

and he maketh them to stagger

וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם

like a drunken

כַּשִּׁכּֽוֹר׃
