בַּלַּ֗יְלָה
and her tears
וְדִמְעָתָהּ֙

are on her cheeks

she hath none to comfort
מְנַחֵ֖ם
 
מִכָּל
among all her lovers
אֹהֲבֶ֑יהָ

her all her friends

have dealt treacherously

with her they are become her enemies

all her persecutors

overtook
הִשִּׂיג֖וּהָ
 
בֵּ֥ין
her between the straits

of Zion

do mourn

because none come

to the solemn feasts
מוֹעֵ֔ד

all her gates
שְׁעָרֶ֙יהָ֙
are desolate
שֽׁוֹמֵמִ֔ין
her priests
כֹּהֲנֶ֖יהָ
sigh
נֶאֱנָחִ֑ים
her virgins
בְּתוּלֹתֶ֥יהָ
are afflicted
נּוּג֖וֹת
 
וְהִ֥יא
and she is in bitterness

for the LORD

her for the multitude
רֹב
of her transgressions
פְּשָׁעֶ֑יהָ
her children
עוֹלָלֶ֛יהָ
are gone
הָלְכ֥וּ
into captivity
שְׁבִ֖י
before
לִפְנֵי
Her adversaries

And from the daughter

of Zion

without strength

the pursuer

Jerusalem
יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם
in the days

of her affliction
עָנְיָהּ֙
and of her miseries
וּמְרוּדֶ֔יהָ

all her pleasant things
מַחֲמֻדֶ֔יהָ

הָי֖וּ
in the days
מִ֣ימֵי
of old
קֶ֑דֶם
fell

when her people
עַמָּ֣הּ
into the hand
בְּיַד
her the adversaries

her the adversaries

at her sabbaths

Jerusalem

therefore she is removed
לְנִידָ֣ה

all that honoured
מְכַבְּדֶ֤יהָ
her despise
הִזִּיל֙וּהָ֙
 
כִּי
her because they have seen
רָא֣וּ
her nakedness
עֶרְוָתָ֔הּ
 
גַּם
 
הִ֥יא
yea she sigheth
נֶאֶנְחָ֖ה
and turneth
וַתָּ֥שָׁב
backward
אָחֽוֹר׃

Her filthiness
טֻמְאָתָ֣הּ
is in her skirts
בְּשׁוּלֶ֗יהָ
 
לֹ֤א
she remembereth
זָֽכְרָה֙
not her last end
אַחֲרִיתָ֔הּ
therefore she came down
וַתֵּ֣רֶד
wonderfully
פְּלָאִ֔ים
 
אֵ֥ין
she had no comforter
מְנַחֵ֖ם
 
לָ֑הּ
behold
רְאֵ֤ה
O LORD
יְהוָה֙
 
אֶת
my affliction
עָנְיִ֔י

hath magnified
הִגְדִּ֖יל
for the enemy

The adversary

upon all her pleasant things
מַחֲמַדֶּ֑יהָ

for she hath seen
רָאֲתָ֤ה
that the heathen
גוֹיִם֙
entered
יָבֹ֥אוּ
into her sanctuary
מִקְדָּשָׁ֔הּ
 
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
whom thou didst command
צִוִּ֔יתָה
 
לֹא
entered
יָבֹ֥אוּ
into thy congregation
בַקָּהָ֖ל
 
לָֽךְ׃

נֶאֱנָחִים֙
they seek
מְבַקְּשִׁ֣ים
bread
לֶ֔חֶם
they have given
נָתְנ֧וּ
 
מַחֲמַודֵּיהֶ֛ם
for meat
בְּאֹ֖כֶל
to relieve
לְהָשִׁ֣יב
the soul
נָ֑פֶשׁ
see
רְאֵ֤ה
O LORD
יְהוָה֙
and consider
וְֽהַבִּ֔יטָה
 
כִּ֥י
 
הָיִ֖יתִי
for I am become vile
זוֹלֵלָֽה׃

Is it nothing to you all ye that pass

and see

if there be

any sorrow
כְּמַכְאֹבִ֔י
any sorrow

אֲשֶׁ֥ר
which is done
עוֹלַ֖ל
 
לִ֑י
 
אֲשֶׁר֙
hath afflicted
הוֹגָ֣ה
unto me wherewith the LORD
יְהוָ֔ה
me in the day
בְּי֖וֹם
of his fierce
חֲר֥וֹן
anger

From above
מִמָּר֛וֹם
hath he sent
שָֽׁלַח
fire
אֵ֥שׁ
into my bones
בְּעַצְמֹתַ֖י
and it prevaileth
וַיִּרְדֶּ֑נָּה
against them he hath spread
פָּרַ֨שׂ
a net
רֶ֤שֶׁת
for my feet
לְרַגְלַי֙
he hath turned
הֱשִׁיבַ֣נִי
me back
אָח֔וֹר
he hath made
נְתָנַ֙נִי֙
me desolate
שֹֽׁמֵמָ֔ה
 
כָּל
all the day
הַיּ֖וֹם
and faint

נִשְׂקַד֩
The yoke
עֹ֨ל
of my transgressions
פְּשָׁעַ֜י
by his hand
בִּידֵ֖י
they are wreathed
יִשְׂתָּ֥רְג֛וּ
and come up
עָל֥וּ

upon my neck
צַוָּארִ֖י
to fall
הִכְשִׁ֣יל
he hath made my strength
כֹּחִ֑י
hath delivered
נְתָנַ֣נִי
the Lord
אֲדֹנָ֔י
by his hand
בִּידֵ֖י
 
לֹא
from whom I am not able
אוּכַ֥ל
to rise up

hath trodden under foot

all my mighty

The Lord

men in the midst
בְּקִרְבִּ֔י
of me he hath called

עָלַ֛י
an assembly
מוֹעֵ֖ד
against me to crush
לִשְׁבֹּ֣ר
my young men
בַּחוּרָ֑י
as in a winepress
גַּ֚ת
hath trodden
דָּרַ֣ךְ
The Lord
אֲדֹנָ֔י
the virgin
לִבְתוּלַ֖ת
the daughter
בַּת
of Judah
יְהוּדָֽה׃

For these things I weep

mine eye
עֵינִי֙

with water

is far

מִמֶּ֛נִּי
because the comforter
מְנַחֵ֖ם
that should relieve

my soul

הָי֤וּ
from me my children

are desolate

because the enemy

Zion
צִיּ֜וֹן
her hands
בְּיָדֶ֗יהָ

and there is none to comfort
מְנַחֵם֙
 
לָ֔הּ
hath commanded
צִוָּ֧ה
her the LORD
יְהוָ֛ה
concerning Jacob
לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב
should be round about
סְבִיבָ֣יו
that his adversaries
צָרָ֑יו

him Jerusalem

is as a menstruous woman
לְנִדָּ֖ה
 
בֵּינֵיהֶֽם׃

is righteous
צַדִּ֥יק
 
ה֛וּא
The LORD
יְהוָ֖ה
 
כִּ֣י
against his commandment
פִ֣יהוּ
for I have rebelled
מָרִ֑יתִי
hear
שִׁמְעוּ
 
נָ֣א
 
כָל
I pray you all people
עַמִּ֗ים
and behold
וּרְאוּ֙
my sorrow
מַכְאֹבִ֔י
my virgins
בְּתוּלֹתַ֥י
and my young men
וּבַחוּרַ֖י
are gone
הָלְכ֥וּ
into captivity
בַשֶּֽׁבִי׃

I called
קָרָ֤אתִי
for my lovers
לַֽמְאַהֲבַי֙
 
הֵ֣מָּה
but they deceived
רִמּ֔וּנִי
me my priests
כֹּהֲנַ֥י
and mine elders
וּזְקֵנַ֖י
in the city
בָּעִ֣יר
gave up the ghost
גָּוָ֑עוּ
 
כִּֽי
while they sought
בִקְשׁ֥וּ
their meat
אֹ֙כֶל֙
 
לָ֔מוֹ
to relieve
וְיָשִׁ֖יבוּ
 
אֶת
their souls
נַפְשָֽׁם׃

Behold

O LORD

my bowels
מֵעַ֣י
are troubled
חֳמַרְמָ֔רוּ
is turned
נֶהְפַּ֤ךְ
mine heart
לִבִּי֙
within
בְּקִרְבִּ֔י
 
כִּ֥י
me for I have grievously
מָרִ֑יתִי
me for I have grievously

abroad
מִח֥וּץ
bereaveth
שִׁכְּלָה
the sword
חֶ֖רֶב
at home
בַּבַּ֥יִת
there is as death
כַּמָּֽוֶת׃

there is none to comfort

me all mine enemies

They have heard

of my trouble

they are glad

that thou hast done

כָּל
unto me for all my transgressions

are many
רַבּ֥וֹת
for my sighs
אַנְחֹתַ֖י
and my heart
וְלִבִּ֥י
is faint
