The Lord

and hath not pitied

all the habitations

of Jacob
יַעֲקֹ֔ב
he hath thrown down
הָרַ֧ס
in his wrath
בְּעֶבְרָת֛וֹ
the strong holds
מִבְצְרֵ֥י
of the daughter
בַת
of Judah
יְהוּדָ֖ה
he hath brought them down
הִגִּ֣יעַ
to the ground
לָאָ֑רֶץ
he hath polluted
חִלֵּ֥ל
the kingdom
מַמְלָכָ֖ה
and the princes
וְשָׂרֶֽיהָ׃

in his fierce
בָּֽחֳרִי
anger

all the horn
קֶ֣רֶן
of Israel
יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
he hath drawn
הֵשִׁ֥יב

אָח֛וֹר
his right hand
יְמִינ֖וֹ
from before
מִפְּנֵ֣י
the enemy
אוֹיֵ֑ב
and he burned
וַיִּבְעַ֤ר
against Jacob
בְּיַעֲקֹב֙
fire
כְּאֵ֣שׁ
like a flaming
לֶֽהָבָ֔ה
which devoureth
אָכְלָ֖ה
round about
סָבִֽיב׃

He hath bent
דָּרַ֨ךְ
his bow
קַשְׁתּ֜וֹ
like an enemy
כְּאוֹיֵ֗ב
he stood
נִצָּ֤ב
with his right hand
יְמִינוֹ֙
as an adversary
כְּצָ֔ר
and slew
וַֽיַּהֲרֹ֔ג
 
כֹּ֖ל
all that were pleasant
מַחֲמַדֵּי
to the eye
עָ֑יִן
in the tabernacle
בְּאֹ֙הֶל֙
of the daughter
בַּת
of Zion
צִיּ֔וֹן
he poured out
שָׁפַ֥ךְ
like fire
כָּאֵ֖שׁ
his fury
חֲמָתֽוֹ׃

The Lord
אֲדֹנָ֤י׀
was as an enemy
כְּאוֹיֵב֙
he hath swallowed up
בִּלַּע֙
Israel
יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
he hath swallowed up

כָּל
all her palaces
אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֔יהָ
he hath destroyed
שִׁחֵ֖ת
his strong holds
מִבְצָרָ֑יו
and hath increased
וַיֶּ֙רֶב֙
in the daughter
בְּבַת
of Judah
יְהוּדָ֔ה
mourning
תַּאֲנִיָּ֖ה
and lamentation
וַאֲנִיָּֽה׃

And he hath violently taken away
וַיַּחְמֹ֤ס
as if it were of a garden
כַּגַּן֙
his tabernacle
שֻׂכּ֔וֹ
he hath destroyed
שִׁחֵ֖ת
hath caused the solemn feasts
מוֹעֵ֣ד
to be forgotten
שִׁכַּ֨ח
the LORD
יְהוָ֤ה׀
in Zion
בְּצִיּוֹן֙
hath caused the solemn feasts
מוֹעֵ֣ד
and sabbaths
וְשַׁבָּ֔ת
and hath despised
וַיִּנְאַ֥ץ
in the indignation
בְּזַֽעַם
of his anger
אַפּ֖וֹ
the king
מֶ֥לֶךְ
and the priest
וְכֹהֵֽן׃

hath cast off
זָנַ֨ח
The Lord
אֲדֹנָ֤י׀
his altar
מִזְבְּחוֹ֙
he hath abhorred
נִאֵ֣ר
his sanctuary
מִקְדָּשׁ֔וֹ
he hath given up
הִסְגִּיר֙
into the hand
בְּיַד
of the enemy
אוֹיֵ֔ב
the walls
חוֹמֹ֖ת
of her palaces
אַרְמְנוֹתֶ֑יהָ
a noise
ק֛וֹל
they have made
נָתְנ֥וּ
in the house
בְּבֵית
of the LORD
יְהוָ֖ה
as in the day
כְּי֥וֹם
of a solemn feast
מוֹעֵֽד׃

hath purposed
חָשַׁ֨ב
The LORD
יְהוָ֤ה׀
to destroy
לְהַשְׁחִית֙
and the wall
וְחוֹמָ֖ה
of the daughter
בַּת
of Zion
צִיּ֔וֹן
he hath stretched out
נָ֣טָה
a line
קָ֔ו
 
לֹא
he hath not withdrawn
הֵשִׁ֥יב
his hand
יָד֖וֹ
from destroying
מִבַּלֵּ֑עַ
to lament
וַיַּֽאֲבֶל
therefore he made the rampart
חֵ֥ל
and the wall
וְחוֹמָ֖ה
together
יַחְדָּ֥ו
they languished
אֻמְלָֽלוּ׃

טָבְע֤וּ
into the ground
בָאָ֙רֶץ֙
Her gates
שְׁעָרֶ֔יהָ
he hath destroyed
אִבַּ֥ד
and broken
וְשִׁבַּ֖ר
her bars
בְּרִיחֶ֑יהָ
her king
מַלְכָּ֨הּ
and her princes
וְשָׂרֶ֤יהָ
are among the Gentiles
בַגּוֹיִם֙
 
אֵ֣ין
the law
תּוֹרָ֔ה
 
גַּם
is no more her prophets
נְבִיאֶ֕יהָ
 
לֹא
also find
מָצְא֥וּ
no vision
חָז֖וֹן
from the LORD
מֵיְהוָֽה׃

and keep silence
יִדְּמוּ֙
The elders
זִקְנֵ֣י
of the daughter

הֶֽעֱל֤וּ
dust
עָפָר֙
 
עַל
their heads
רֹאשָׁ֔ן
they have girded
חָגְר֖וּ
themselves with sackcloth
שַׂקִּ֑ים
hang down
הוֹרִ֤ידוּ
to the ground
לָאָ֙רֶץ֙
their heads
רֹאשָׁ֔ן
the virgins
בְּתוּלֹ֖ת
of Jerusalem
יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

לָאָ֙רֶץ֙
my liver
כְּבֵדִ֔י

for the destruction
שֶׁ֖בֶר
of the daughter
בַּת
of my people
עַמִּ֑י
swoon
בֵּֽעָטֵ֤ף
because the children
עוֹלֵל֙
and the sucklings
וְיוֹנֵ֔ק
in the streets
בִּרְחֹב֖וֹת
of the city
קִרְיָֽה׃

and wine
וָיָ֑יִן

בְּהִֽתְעַטְּפָ֤ם
as the wounded
כֶּֽחָלָל֙
in the streets
בִּרְחֹב֣וֹת
of the city
עִ֔יר
was poured out
בְּהִשְׁתַּפֵּ֣ךְ
when their soul

and foolish things

for thee and they have not discovered
גִלּ֥וּ

thine iniquity
עֲוֹנֵ֖ךְ
to turn away
לְהָשִׁ֣יב
thy captivity
שְׁביּתֵ֑ךְ
but have seen
וַיֶּ֣חֱזוּ
 
לָ֔ךְ
burdens
מַשְׂא֥וֹת
for thee false
שָׁ֖וְא
and causes of banishment
וּמַדּוּחִֽים׃

All thine enemies

against thee they hiss

and gnash
וַיַּֽחַרְקוּ
the teeth
שֵׁ֔ן
they say
אָמְר֖וּ
We have swallowed her up
בִּלָּ֑עְנוּ
certainly

that we looked for

and hath not pitied

to rejoice

over thee he hath set up

the horn

thine heart

of the Lord

lift up

אֵלָ֣יו
thy hands
כַּפַּ֗יִךְ

toward him for the life

of thy young children

O LORD

and consider
וְֽהַבִּ֔יטָה

to whom thou hast done

eat
תֹּאכַ֨לְנָה
Shall the women
נָשִׁ֤ים
their fruit
פִּרְיָם֙
and children
עֹלֲלֵ֣י
of a span long
טִפֻּחִ֔ים
 
אִם
be slain
יֵהָרֵ֛ג
in the sanctuary
בְּמִקְדַּ֥שׁ
of the Lord
אֲדֹנָ֖י
shall the priest
כֹּהֵ֥ן
and the prophet
וְנָבִֽיא׃

in the streets

The young

and the old
וְזָקֵ֔ן
my virgins
בְּתוּלֹתַ֥י
and my young men
וּבַחוּרַ֖י
are fallen
נָפְל֣וּ
by the sword
בֶחָ֑רֶב
thou hast slain
הָרַ֙גְתָּ֙
them in the day
בְּי֣וֹם
of thine anger
אַפֶּ֔ךָ
thou hast killed

and not pitied

those that I have swaddled

and brought up
וְרִבִּ֖יתִי
hath mine enemy
