לֹ֣א

they found

מָצָֽאוּ׃

Hungry

רְעֵבִ֥ים

and thirsty

צְמֵאִ֑ים

their soul

נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם

 

בָּהֶ֥ם

fainted

תִּתְעַטָּֽף׃

Then they cried

וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ

 

אֶל

unto the LORD

יְ֭הוָה

in their trouble

בַּצַּ֣ר

 

לָהֶ֑ם

them out of their distresses

מִ֝מְּצֽוּקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

and he delivered

יַצִּילֵֽם׃

And he led them forth

וַ֭יַּֽדְרִיכֵם

way

בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ

by the right

יְשָׁרָ֑ה

 

לָ֝לֶ֗כֶת

 

אֶל

to a city

עִ֥יר

of habitation

מוֹשָֽׁב׃

Oh that men would praise

יוֹד֣וּ

the LORD

לַיהוָ֣ה

for his goodness

חַסְדּ֑וֹ

and for his wonderful

וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו

works to the children

לִבְנֵ֥י

of men

אָדָֽם׃

 

כִּי

For he satisfieth

הִ֭שְׂבִּיעַ

soul

וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ

the longing

שֹׁקֵקָ֑ה

soul

וְנֶ֥פֶשׁ

the hungry

רְ֝עֵבָה

and filleth

מִלֵּא

with goodness

טֽוֹב׃

in darkness

and in the shadow of death

וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת

Because they rebelled

הִמְר֥וּ

against the words

אִמְרֵי

of God

אֵ֑ל

the counsel

וַעֲצַ֖ת

of the most High

עֶלְי֣וֹן

and contemned

נָאָֽצוּ׃

Therefore he brought down

וַיַּכְנַ֣ע

with labour

בֶּעָמָ֣ל

their heart

לִבָּ֑ם

they fell down

כָּ֝שְׁל֗וּ

 

וְאֵ֣ין

and there was none to help

עֹזֵֽר׃

Then they cried

וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ

 

אֶל

unto the LORD

יְ֭הוָה

in their trouble

בַּצַּ֣ר

 

לָהֶ֑ם

them out of their distresses

מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

and he saved

יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃

He brought them out

יֽ֭וֹצִיאֵם

of darkness

מֵחֹ֣שֶׁךְ

and the shadow of death

וְצַלְמָ֑וֶת

their bands

וּמוֹסְר֖וֹתֵיהֶ֣ם

and brake

יְנַתֵּֽק׃

Oh that men would praise

יוֹד֣וּ

the LORD

לַיהוָ֣ה

for his goodness

חַסְדּ֑וֹ

and for his wonderful works

וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו

to the children

לִבְנֵ֥י

of men

אָדָֽם׃

 

כִּֽי

For he hath broken

שִׁ֭בַּר

the gates

דַּלְת֣וֹת

of brass

נְחֹ֑שֶׁת

the bars

וּבְרִיחֵ֖י

of iron

בַרְזֶ֣ל

and cut

גִּדֵּֽעַ׃

Fools

אֱ֭וִלִים

because

מִדֶּ֣רֶךְ

of their transgression

פִּשְׁעָ֑ם

and because of their iniquities

וּֽ֝מֵעֲוֹ֥נֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

are afflicted

יִתְעַנּֽוּ׃

 

כָּל

all manner of meat

אֹ֭כֶל

abhorreth

תְּתַעֵ֣ב

Their soul

נַפְשָׁ֑ם

and they draw near

וַ֝יַּגִּ֗יעוּ

 

עַד

unto the gates

שַׁ֥עֲרֵי

of death

מָֽוֶת׃

Then they cry

וַיִּזְעֲק֣וּ

 

אֶל

unto the LORD

יְ֭הוָה

in their trouble

בַּצַּ֣ר

 

לָהֶ֑ם

them out of their distresses

מִ֝מְּצֻֽקוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

and he saveth

יוֹשִׁיעֵֽם׃

He sent

יִשְׁלַ֣ח

his word

דְּ֭בָרוֹ

and healed

וְיִרְפָּאֵ֑ם

them and delivered

וִֽ֝ימַלֵּ֗ט

them from their destructions

מִשְּׁחִיתוֹתָֽם׃

Oh that men would praise

יוֹד֣וּ

the LORD

לַיהוָ֣ה

for his goodness

חַסְדּ֑וֹ

and for his wonderful works

וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו

to the children

לִבְנֵ֥י

of men

אָדָֽם׃

And let them sacrifice

וְ֭יִזְבְּחוּ

the sacrifices

זִבְחֵ֣י

of thanksgiving

תוֹדָ֑ה

and declare

וִֽיסַפְּר֖וּ

his works

מַעֲשָׂ֣יו

with rejoicing

בְּרִנָּֽה׃

They that go down

יוֹרְדֵ֣י

to the sea

הַ֭יָּם

בִּמְצוּלָֽה׃

For he commandeth

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

and raiseth

וַֽ֭יַּעֲמֵד

wind

ר֣וּחַ

the stormy

סְעָרָ֑ה

which lifteth up

וַתְּרוֹמֵ֥ם

the waves

גַּלָּֽיו׃

They mount up

יַעֲל֣וּ

to the heaven

שָׁ֭מַיִם

they go down

יֵרְד֣וּ

again to the depths

תְהוֹמ֑וֹת

their soul

נַ֝פְשָׁ֗ם

because of trouble

בְּרָעָ֥ה

is melted

תִתְמוֹגָֽג׃

They reel to and fro

יָח֣וֹגּוּ

and stagger

וְ֭יָנוּעוּ

like a drunken man

כַּשִּׁכּ֑וֹר

 

וְכָל

and are at their wits

חָ֝כְמָתָ֗ם

end

תִּתְבַּלָּֽע׃

Then they cry

וַיִּצְעֲק֣וּ

 

אֶל

unto the LORD

יְ֭הוָה

in their trouble

בַּצַּ֣ר

 

לָהֶ֑ם

of their distresses

וּֽ֝מִמְּצֽוּקֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

and he bringeth them out

יוֹצִיאֵֽם׃

He maketh

יָקֵ֣ם

the storm

סְ֭עָרָה

a calm

לִדְמָמָ֑ה

thereof are still

וַ֝יֶּחֱשׁ֗וּ

so that the waves

גַּלֵּיהֶֽם׃

Then are they glad

וַיִּשְׂמְח֥וּ

 

כִֽי

because they be quiet

יִשְׁתֹּ֑קוּ

so he bringeth

וַ֝יַּנְחֵ֗ם

 

אֶל

haven

מְח֥וֹז

them unto their desired

חֶפְצָֽם׃

Oh that men would praise

יוֹד֣וּ

the LORD

לַיהוָ֣ה

for his goodness

And there he maketh the hungry

רְעֵבִ֑ים

that they may prepare

וַ֝יְכוֹנְנ֗וּ

a city

עִ֣יר

for habitation

מוֹשָֽׁב׃

And sow

וַיִּזְרְע֣וּ

the fields

שָׂ֭דוֹת

and plant

וַיִּטְּע֣וּ

vineyards

כְרָמִ֑ים

which may yield

וַ֝יַּעֲשׂ֗וּ

fruits

פְּרִ֣י

of increase

תְבֽוּאָה׃

He blesseth

וַיְבָרֲכֵ֣ם

them also so that they are multiplied

וַיִּרְבּ֣וּ

greatly

מְאֹ֑ד

not their cattle

וּ֝בְהֶמְתָּ֗ם

 

לֹ֣א

and suffereth

יַמְעִֽיט׃

Again they are minished

וַיִּמְעֲט֥וּ

and brought low

וַיָּשֹׁ֑חוּ

through oppression

מֵעֹ֖צֶר

affliction

רָעָ֣ה

and sorrow

וְיָגֽוֹן׃

He poureth

שֹׁפֵ֣ךְ

contempt

בּ֭וּז

 

עַל

upon princes

נְדִיבִ֑ים

and causeth them to wander

וַ֝יַּתְעֵ֗ם

in the wilderness

בְּתֹ֣הוּ

 

לֹא

where there is no way

דָֽרֶךְ׃

on high

וַיְשַׂגֵּ֣ב

Yet setteth he the poor

אֶבְי֣וֹן

from affliction

מֵע֑וֹנִי

and maketh

וַיָּ֥שֶׂם

like a flock

כַּ֝צֹּ֗אן

him families

מִשְׁפָּחֽוֹת׃

shall see

יִרְא֣וּ

The righteous

יְשָׁרִ֣ים

it and rejoice

וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ

 

וְכָל

and all iniquity

עַ֝וְלָ֗ה

shall stop

קָ֣פְצָה

her mouth

פִּֽיהָ׃

 

מִי

Whoso is wise

חָכָ֥ם

and will observe

וְיִשְׁמָר

 

אֵ֑לֶּה

these things even they shall understand

וְ֝יִתְבּֽוֹנְנ֗וּ

the lovingkindness

חַֽסְדֵ֥י

of the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃
