mourned
מִתְאַבֶּ֖לֶת

and put on
וְלִבְשִׁי

apparel
בִגְדֵי
now mourning
אֵ֗בֶל
 
וְאַל
and anoint
תָּס֙וּכִי֙
not thyself with oil
שֶׁ֔מֶן
 
וְהָיִ֕ית
but be as a woman
כְּאִשָּׁ֗ה

יָמִ֣ים
that had a long
רַבִּ֔ים
mourned
מִתְאַבֶּ֖לֶת

for the dead

to the king
הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ
and speak
וְדִבַּ֥רְתְּ
 
אֵלָ֖יו
on this manner
הַדְּבָרִ֖ים

הַתְּקֹעִית֙

O king
הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
she fell
וַתִּפֹּ֧ל
 
עַל
on her face
אַפֶּ֛יהָ
to the ground
אַ֖רְצָה
and did obeisance
וַתִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּ
and said
וַתֹּ֖אמֶר
Help
הוֹשִׁ֥עָה
O king
הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

וַתֹּ֗אמֶר
 
לָ֥הּ
And the king
הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

וַתֹּ֗אמֶר
I am indeed
אֲבָ֛ל
woman
אִשָּֽׁה
a widow
אַלְמָנָ֥ה
 
אָ֖נִי
is dead
וַיָּ֥מָת
and mine husband
אִישִֽׁי׃

And thy handmaid
וּלְשִׁפְחָֽתְךָ֙
and they two
שְׁנֵיהֶם֙
sons
בָנִ֔ים
strove together
וַיִּנָּצ֤וּ
and they two
שְׁנֵיהֶם֙
in the field
בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה
 
וְאֵ֥ין
and there was none to part
מַצִּ֖יל
 
בֵּֽינֵיהֶ֑ם
smote
וַיַּכּ֧וֹ
the other
הָֽאֶחָ֖ד

וְהִנֵּה֩
is risen

And behold the whole family
הַמִּשְׁפָּחָ֜ה

against thine handmaid
שִׁפְחָתֶ֗ךָ
and they said
וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙
Deliver
תְּנִ֣י׀
 
אֶת
him that smote
מַכֵּ֣ה
his brother
אָחִיו֙
that we may kill
וּנְמִתֵ֙הוּ֙
him for the life
בְּנֶ֤פֶשׁ
his brother
אָחִיו֙
 
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
whom he slew
הָרָ֔ג
and we will destroy
וְנַשְׁמִ֖ידָה
 
גַּ֣ם

the heir
הַיּוֹרֵ֑שׁ
also and so they shall quench

and I will give charge

the iniquity
הֶעָוֹ֖ן

be on me and on my father's

and his throne
וְכִסְא֖וֹ
be guiltless

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ
Whosoever saith
הַֽמְדַבֵּ֤ר
 
אֵלַ֙יִךְ֙
ought unto thee bring
וַֽהֲבֵאת֣וֹ
 
אֵלַ֔י
 
וְלֹֽא
thee any more
יֹסִ֥יף
 
ע֖וֹד
him to me and he shall not touch
לָגַ֥עַת
 
בָּֽךְ׃

And he said

remember
יִזְכָּר
 
נָ֨א
she I pray thee let the king
הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

As the LORD
יְהוָ֔ה
thy God
אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ
any more
מֵֽהַרְבִּי֞ת
that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers
גֹּאֵ֤ל
of blood
הַדָּם֙
to destroy
לְשַׁחֵ֔ת
 
וְלֹ֥א
lest they destroy
יַשְׁמִ֖ידוּ
 
אֶת
my son
בְּנֵ֖ךְ
And he said
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙
liveth
חַי
As the LORD
יְהוָ֔ה
 
אִם
fall
יִפֹּ֛ל
there shall not one hair
מִשַּֽׂעֲרַ֥ת
my son
בְּנֵ֖ךְ
to the earth

I pray thee speak

unto my lord

Wherefore then hast thou thought
חָשַׁ֛בְתָּה

such a thing against the people
עַ֣ם
of God
אֱלֹהִ֑ים
doth speak
וּמִדַּבֵּ֨ר
for the king
הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ
this thing
הַדָּבָ֤ר
 
הַזֶּה֙
as one which is faulty
כְּאָשֵׁ֔ם
 
לְבִלְתִּ֛י
doth not fetch home again
הָשִׁ֥יב
for the king

Now therefore that I am come

it is because the people
הָעָ֑ם

it may be that the king

out of the hand
מִכַּ֣ף
of the man
הָאִ֑ישׁ
that would destroy
לְהַשְׁמִ֨יד

me and my son

out of the inheritance
מִֽנַּחֲלַ֖ת

Then thine handmaid

shall now be comfortable
לִמְנֻחָ֑ה

for as an angel

of my lord

the king

to discern
לִשְׁמֹ֙עַ֙

הַטּ֣וֹב
and bad
וְהָרָ֔ע
therefore the LORD

תְכַֽחֲדִ֤י
 
מִמֶּ֙נִּי֙
