הָֽרִקְמָ֑ה

unto Lebanon

הַלְּבָנ֔וֹן

and took

וַיִּקַּ֖ח

the highest branch

צַמֶּ֥רֶת

of the cedar

הָאָֽרֶז׃

the top

רֹ֥אשׁ

of his young twigs

יְנִֽיקוֹתָ֖יו

He cropped off

קָטָ֑ף

and carried

וַיְבִיאֵ֙הוּ֙

 

אֶל

it into a land

אֶ֣רֶץ

of traffick

כְּנַ֔עַן

it in a city

בְּעִ֥יר

of merchants

רֹכְלִ֖ים

he set

שָׂמֽוֹ׃

He took

קָ֚ח

also of the seed

זָ֑רַע

of the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

and planted

וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֖הוּ

field

בִּשְׂדֵה

also of the seed

waters

מַ֣יִם

it by great

רַבִּ֔ים

it as a willow tree

צַפְצָפָ֖ה

and set

שָׂמֽוֹ׃

And it grew

וַיִּצְמַ֡ח

 

וַיְהִי֩

thereof were under him so it became a vine

לְגֶ֔פֶן

and became a spreading

סֹרַ֜חַת

of low

שִׁפְלַ֣ת

stature

קוֹמָ֗ה

turned

לִפְנ֤וֹת

whose branches

דָּלִיּוֹתָיו֙

 

אֵלָ֔יו

toward him and the roots

וְשָׁרָשָׁ֖יו

 

תַּחְתָּ֣יו

 

יִֽהְי֑וּ

 

וַתְּהִ֣י

thereof were under him so it became a vine

לְגֶ֔פֶן

and brought forth

וַתַּ֣עַשׂ

branches

בַּדִּ֔ים

and shot

וַתְּשַׁלַּ֖ח

forth sprigs

פֹּארֽוֹת׃

 

וַיְהִ֤י

נֶֽשֶׁר

and behold this vine

her branches

וְדָֽלִיּוֹתָיו֙

toward him and shot forth

שִׁלְחָה

 

לּ֔וֹ

toward him that he might water

לְהַשְׁק֣וֹת

 

אוֹתָ֔הּ

it by the furrows

מֵעֲרֻג֖וֹת

of her plantation

מַטָּעָֽהּ׃

 

אֶל

רַבִּ֖ים

 

הִ֣יא

It was planted

שְׁתוּלָ֑ה

that it might bring forth

לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת

and that it might bear

וְלָשֵׂ֣את

fruit

פֶּ֔רִי

 

לִהְי֖וֹת

vine

לְגֶ֥פֶן

that it might be a goodly

אַדָּֽרֶת׃

Shall it prosper

תִּצְלָ֑ח

 

הֲלוֹא֩

מִשָּׁרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

shall he not pull up

יְנַתֵּ֜ק

 

וְאֶת

the fruit

פִּרְיָ֣הּ׀

thereof and cut off

יְקוֹסֵ֣ס

it shall wither

תִּיבָ֔שׁ

in all the leaves

טַרְפֵּ֤י

of her spring

צִמְחָהּ֙

it shall wither

תִּיבָ֔שׁ

 

וְלֹֽא

בִזְרֹ֤עַ

even without great

גְּדוֹלָה֙

וּבְעַם

or many

רָ֔ב

to pluck it up

לְמַשְׂא֥וֹת

 

אוֹתָ֖הּ

by the roots

מִשָּׁרָשֶֽׁיהָ׃

 

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

Yea behold being planted

שְׁתוּלָ֖ה

shall it prosper

הֲתִצְלָ֑ח

 

הֲלֹא֩

toucheth

כְגַ֨עַת

 

בָּ֜הּ

wind

ר֤וּחַ

when the east

הַקָּדִים֙

it it shall wither

תִּיבָֽשׁ׃

it it shall wither

Moreover the word

הִנֵּה

is come

וַיָּבֵ֥א

the king

מַלְכָּהּ֙

of Babylon

בָּבֶֽלָה׃

to Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

and hath taken

וַיִּקַּ֤ח

 

אֶת

the king

מַלְכָּהּ֙

 

וְאֶת

thereof and the princes

שָׂרֶ֔יהָ

is come

וַיָּבֵ֥א

 

אוֹתָ֛ם

 

אֵלָ֖יו

of Babylon

בָּבֶֽלָה׃

And hath taken

לָקָֽח׃

seed

מִזֶּ֣רַע

of the king's

הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה

and made

וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת

 

אִתּ֖וֹ

a covenant

בְּרִ֑ית

with him and hath taken

וַיָּבֵ֤א

 

אֹתוֹ֙

an oath

בְּאָלָ֔ה

 

וְאֶת

the mighty

אֵילֵ֥י

of the land

הָאָ֖רֶץ

And hath taken

לָקָֽח׃

 

לִֽהְיוֹת֙

That the kingdom

מַמְלָכָ֣ה

might be base

שְׁפָלָ֔ה

 

לְבִלְתִּ֖י

that it might not lift itself up

הִתְנַשֵּׂ֑א

but that by keeping

לִשְׁמֹ֥ר

 

אֶת

of his covenant

בְּרִית֖וֹ

it might stand

לְעָמְדָֽהּ׃

But he rebelled

וַיִּמְרָד

 

בּ֗וֹ

against him in sending

לִשְׁלֹ֤חַ

his ambassadors

מַלְאָכָיו֙

into Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

that they might give

לָֽתֶת

 

ל֥וֹ

him horses

סוּסִ֖ים

people

וְעַם

and much

רָ֑ב

Shall he prosper

הֲיִצְלָ֤ח

and be delivered

וְנִמְלָֽט׃

that doeth

הָעֹשֵׂ֣ה

 

אֵ֔לֶּה

such things or shall he break

וְהֵפֵ֥ר

the covenant

בְּרִ֖ית

and be delivered

וְנִמְלָֽט׃

As I live

חַי

 

אָ֗נִי

saith

נְאֻם֮

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

 

יְהוִה֒

 

אִם

 

לֹ֗א

surely in the place

בִּמְקוֹם֙

where the king

הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙

dwelleth that made him king

הַמַּמְלִ֣יךְ

 

אֹת֔וֹ

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

he despised

בָּזָה֙

 

אֶת

whose oath

אָ֣לָת֔וֹ

 

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר

he brake

הֵפֵ֖ר

 

אֶת

and whose covenant

בְּרִית֑וֹ

 

אִתּ֥וֹ

even with him in the midst

בְתוֹךְ

of Babylon

בָּבֶ֖ל

he shall die

יָמֽוּת׃

 

וְלֹא֩

with his mighty

Neither shall Pharaoh

פַרְעֹה֙

for him in the war

בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

by casting up

בִּשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ

mounts

סֹלְלָ֖ה

and building

וּבִבְנ֣וֹת

forts

דָּיֵ֑ק

to cut off

לְהַכְרִ֖ית

persons

נְפָשׁ֥וֹת

and great

רַבּֽוֹת׃

Seeing he despised

וּבָזָ֥ה

the oath

אָלָ֖ה

by breaking

לְהָפֵ֣ר

the covenant

בְּרִ֑ית

 

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

when lo he had given

נָתַ֥ן

his hand

יָד֛וֹ

 

וְכָל

 

אֵ֥לֶּה

and hath done

עָשָׂ֖ה

 

לֹ֥א

all these things he shall not escape

יִמָּלֵֽט׃

 

לָכֵ֞ן

 

כֹּה

Therefore thus saith

אָמַ֨ר

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִה֮

As I live

חַי

 

אָנִי֒

 

אִם

 

לֹ֗א

surely mine oath

אָֽלָתִי֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

that he hath despised

בָּזָ֔ה

and my covenant

וּבְרִיתִ֖י

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

that he hath broken

הֵפִ֑יר

even it will I recompense

וּנְתַתִּ֖יו

upon his own head

בְּרֹאשֽׁוֹ׃

And I will spread

וּפָרַשְׂתִּ֤י

 

עָלָיו֙

my net

רִשְׁתִּ֔י

upon him and he shall be taken

וְנִתְפַּ֖שׂ

in my snare

בִּמְצֽוּדָתִ֑י

and I will bring

וַהֲבִיאוֹתִ֣יהוּ

him to Babylon

בָבֶ֗לָה

and will plead

וְנִשְׁפַּטְתִּ֤י

 

אִתּוֹ֙

 

שָׁ֔ם

with him there for his trespass

מַעֲל֖וֹ

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that he hath trespassed

מָֽעַל

 

בִּֽי׃

 

וְאֵ֨ת

 

כָּל

And all his fugitives

מִבְרָחָ֤ו

 

בְּכָל

with all his bands

אֲגַפָּיו֙

by the sword

בַּחֶ֣רֶב

shall fall

יִפֹּ֔לוּ

and they that remain

וְהַנִּשְׁאָרִ֖ים

 

לְכָל

toward all winds

ר֣וּחַ

shall be scattered

יִפָּרֵ֑שׂוּ

and ye shall know

וִידַעְתֶּ֕ם

 

כִּ֛י

 

אֲנִ֥י

that I the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

have spoken

דִּבַּֽרְתִּי׃

 

כֹּ֤ה

Thus saith

אָמַר֙

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִ֔ה

I will also take

וְלָקַ֣חְתִּי

 

אָ֗נִי

of the highest branch

מִצַּמֶּ֧רֶת

cedar

הָאֶ֛רֶז

of the high

הָרָמָ֖ה

and will set

וְנָתָ֑תִּי

from the top

מֵרֹ֤אשׁ

of his young twigs

יֹֽנְקוֹתָיו֙

a tender one

רַ֣ךְ

it I will crop off

אֶקְטֹ֔ף

and will plant

וְשָׁתַ֣לְתִּי

 

אָ֔נִי

 

עַ֥ל

mountain

הַר

it upon an high

גָּבֹ֖הַ

and eminent

וְתָלֽוּל׃

In the mountain

בְּהַ֨ר

of the height

מְר֤וֹם

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

will I plant

אֶשְׁתֳּלֶ֔נּוּ

it and it shall bring forth

וְנָשָׂ֤א

boughs

עָנָף֙

and bear

וְעָ֣שָׂה

fruit

פֶ֔רִי

 

וְהָיָ֖ה

cedar

לְאֶ֣רֶז

and be a goodly

אַדִּ֑יר

and under it shall dwell

תִּשְׁכֹּֽנָּה׃

 

תַחְתָּ֗יו

 

כֹּ֚ל

all fowl

צִפּ֣וֹר

of every wing

כָּנָ֔ף

in the shadow

בְּצֵ֥ל

of the branches

דָּלִיּוֹתָ֖יו

and under it shall dwell

תִּשְׁכֹּֽנָּה׃

shall know

וְֽיָדְע֞וּ

And all the trees

עֵ֣ץ

of the field

הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה

 

כִּ֣י

 

אֲנִ֤י

I the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

have brought down

הִשְׁפַּ֣לְתִּי׀

And all the trees

עֵ֣ץ

the high

גָּבֹ֗הַ

have exalted

הִגְבַּ֙הְתִּי֙

And all the trees

עֵ֣ץ

the low

שָׁפָ֔ל

have dried

הוֹבַ֙שְׁתִּי֙

And all the trees

עֵ֣ץ

up the green

לָ֔ח

to flourish

וְהִפְרַ֖חְתִּי

And all the trees

עֵ֣ץ

and have made the dry

יָבֵ֑שׁ

 

אֲנִ֥י

I the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

have spoken

דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי

and have done

וְעָשִֽׂיתִי׃
