thee now therefore I pray thee take heed
הִשָּֽׁמֶר
 
נָ֣א
to thyself until the morning
בַבֹּ֔קֶר
and abide
וְיָֽשַׁבְתָּ֥
in a secret
בַסֵּ֖תֶר
place and hide
וְנַחְבֵּֽאתָ׃

And I will go out

and stand
וְעָֽמַדְתִּ֣י

in the field

because he hath not sinned
חָטָא֙
unto him Let not the king
הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ
against his servant
בְּעַבְדּ֣וֹ
against David
בְדָוִ֗ד
 
כִּ֣י
 
ל֤וֹא
because he hath not sinned

לָ֔ךְ

against thee and because his works
מַֽעֲשָׂ֖יו

for all Israel
יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
thou sawest
רָאִ֖יתָ
it and didst rejoice
וַתִּשְׂמָ֑ח
 
וְלָ֤מָּה
wherefore then wilt thou sin
תֶֽחֱטָא֙
blood
בְּדָ֣ם
against innocent
נָקִ֔י
to slay
לְהָמִ֥ית
 
אֶת
David
דָּוִ֖ד
without a cause
חִנָּֽם׃

unto the voice
בְּק֣וֹל
of Jonathan
יְהֽוֹנָתָ֑ן
sware
וַיִּשָּׁבַ֣ע
And Saul
שָׁא֔וּל
liveth
חַי
As the LORD
יְהוָ֖ה
he shall not
אִם
be slain
יוּמָֽת׃

And Jonathan

הַדְּבָרִ֖ים

הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה
 
לִֽהְי֑וֹת
went out
וַיֵּצֵ֨א
and David
דָוִ֜ד
and fought
וַיִּלָּ֣חֶם
with the Philistines
בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים
and slew
וַיַּ֤ךְ
 
בָּהֶם֙
slaughter
מַכָּ֣ה
them with a great
גְדוֹלָ֔ה
and they fled
וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ
from
מִפָּנָֽיו׃

from the LORD

And the evil
רָעָה֙
 
אֶל
was upon Saul
שָׁא֔וּל
 
וְהוּא֙
in his house
בְּבֵית֣וֹ
as he sat
יוֹשֵׁ֔ב
with his javelin
וַֽחֲנִית֖וֹ
in his hand
בְּיָֽד׃
and David
וְדָוִ֖ד
played
מְנַגֵּ֥ן
in his hand
בְּיָֽד׃

וַיְבַקֵּ֨שׁ
And Saul
שָׁא֔וּל
and he smote
וַיַּ֥ךְ
the javelin
הַחֲנִ֖ית
David
וְדָוִ֛ד
even to the wall
בַּקִּ֑יר
but he slipped away
וַיִּפְטַר֙
presence
מִפְּנֵ֣י
And Saul
שָׁא֔וּל
and he smote
וַיַּ֥ךְ
 
אֶֽת
the javelin
הַחֲנִ֖ית
even to the wall
בַּקִּ֑יר
David
וְדָוִ֛ד
fled
נָ֥ס
and escaped
וַיִּמָּלֵ֖ט
that night
בַּלַּ֥יְלָה

it in the bed
הַמִּטָּ֔ה

a pillow

of goats
הָֽעִזִּ֔ים
and laid
שָׂ֖מָה
hair for his bolster
מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑יו
and covered
וַתְּכַ֖ס
it with a cloth
בַּבָּֽגֶד׃

And when Saul

מַלְאָכִ֖ים
to take
לָקַ֣חַת

she said
וַתֹּ֖אמֶר
He is sick
חֹלֶ֥ה

הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים

Bring him up

to me in the bed
בַמִּטָּ֛ה

that I may slay

And when the messengers
הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים
 
וְהִנֵּ֥ה
behold there was an image
הַתְּרָפִ֖ים

in the bed
הַמִּטָּ֑ה
with a pillow
וּכְבִ֥יר

וּשְׁמוּאֵ֔ל
to Ramah
הָֽרָמָ֔תָה
and told
וַיַּ֨גֶּד

אֲשֶׁ֥ר
had done
עָֽשָׂה

him all that Saul
שָׁא֑וּל
 
וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ

and dwelt

in Naioth

And it was told
וַיֻּגַּ֥ד

הִנֵּ֣ה
Behold David
דָוִ֔ד
is at Naioth
בְּנָוֹי֖ת
in Ramah
בָּֽרָמָֽה׃

And Saul

messengers
מַלְאֲכֵ֤י
to take
לָקַ֣חַת
 
אֶת
David
דָּוִד֒
and when they saw
וַיַּ֗רְא
 
אֶֽת
the company
לַהֲקַ֤ת
of the prophets
הַנְּבִיאִים֙
and they also prophesied
וַיִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וּ
and Samuel
וּשְׁמוּאֵ֕ל
standing
עֹמֵ֥ד
as appointed
נִצָּ֖ב
 
עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם
 
וַתְּהִ֞י
 
עַֽל
messengers
מַלְאֲכֵ֤י
And Saul
שָׁאוּל֙
over them the Spirit

אֱלֹהִ֔ים
and they also prophesied
וַיִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וּ

And when it was told

and they prophesied
וַיִּֽתְנַבְּא֖וּ

מַלְאָכִ֣ים

שְׁלִשִׁ֔ים
and they prophesied

and prophesied
וַיִּתְנַבֵּ֤א

before
לִפְנֵ֣י

in like manner and lay down
וַיִּפֹּ֣ל
naked
עָרֹ֔ם
 
כָּל
all that day
הַיּ֥וֹם

and all that night
הַלָּ֑יְלָה

Wherefore they say
