אֲשִֽׂימְךָ֖

הַיָּמִֽים׃

Now Samuel

וּשְׁמוּאֵ֣ל

was dead

מֵ֔ת

had lamented

וַיִּסְפְּדוּ

 

לוֹ֙

 

כָּל

and all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

him and buried

וַיִּקְבְּרֻ֥הוּ

him in Ramah

בָֽרָמָ֖ה

even in his own city

וּבְעִיר֑וֹ

And Saul

וְשָׁא֗וּל

had put away

הֵסִ֛יר

those that had familiar spirits

הָֽאֹב֥וֹת

 

וְאֶת

and the wizards

הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֖ים

out of the land

מֵֽהָאָֽרֶץ׃

gathered

וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ

And the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

and came

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

and pitched

וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ

in Shunem

בְשׁוּנֵ֑ם

gathered

וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ

and Saul

שָׁאוּל֙

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

and pitched

וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ

in Gilboa

בַּגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃

saw

וַיַּ֥רְא

And when Saul

מַֽחֲנֵ֣ה

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

he was afraid

וַיִּרָ֕א

trembled

וַיֶּֽחֱרַ֥ד

and his heart

לִבּ֖וֹ

greatly

מְאֹֽד׃

enquired

וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל

And when Saul

שָׁאוּל֙

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

וְלֹ֥א

answered

עָנָ֖הוּ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

גַּ֧ם

him not neither by dreams

בַּֽחֲלֹמ֛וֹת

 

גַּ֥ם

nor by Urim

בָּֽאוּרִ֖ים

 

גַּ֥ם

nor by prophets

בַּנְּבִיאִֽם׃

Then said

וַיֹּֽאמְר֤וּ

Saul

שָׁא֜וּל

of her And his servants

עֲבָדָיו֙

Seek

בַּקְּשׁוּ

 

לִי֙

me a woman

אֵ֥שֶׁת

that hath

בַּֽעֲלַת

a familiar spirit

א֖וֹב

 

וְאֵֽלְכָ֥ה

 

אֵלֶ֖יהָ

to her and enquire

וְאֶדְרְשָׁה

 

בָּ֑הּ

Then said

וַיֹּֽאמְר֤וּ

of her And his servants

עֲבָדָיו֙

 

אֵלָ֔יו

 

הִנֵּ֛ה

me a woman

אֵ֥שֶׁת

that hath

בַּֽעֲלַת

a familiar spirit

א֖וֹב

 

בְּעֵ֥ין

at Endor

דּֽוֹר׃

disguised

וַיִּתְחַפֵּ֣שׂ

And Saul

שָׁא֗וּל

himself and put on

וַיִּלְבַּשׁ֙

raiment

בְּגָדִ֣ים

אֲחֵרִ֔ים

 

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ

 

ה֗וּא

and two

וּשְׁנֵ֤י

men

אֲנָשִׁים֙

 

עִמּ֔וֹ

with him and they came

וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ

 

אֶל

to the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה

by night

לָ֑יְלָה

and he said

אֹמַ֖ר

I pray thee divine

קָֽסֳוֹמִי

 

נָ֥א

 

לִי֙

unto me by the familiar spirit

בָּא֔וֹב

and bring me him up

וְהַ֣עֲלִי

 

לִ֔י

 

אֵ֥ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

and he said

אֹמַ֖ר

 

אֵלָֽיִךְ׃

said

וַתֹּ֨אמֶר

And the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֜ה

הִנֵּ֨ה

 

אַתָּ֤ה

unto him Behold thou knowest

יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙

 

אֵ֣ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

to thee for this thing

Bring me up

הַֽעֲלִי

לֵאמֹ֛ר

Why hast thou deceived

רִמִּיתָ֖נִי

An old

זָקֵן֙

cometh up

עֹלֶ֔ה

and he is covered

עֹטֶ֖ה

with a mantle

מְעִ֑יל

perceived

וַיֵּ֤דַע

And Saul

שָׁאוּל֙

 

כִּֽי

that it was Samuel

שְׁמוּאֵ֣ל

 

ה֔וּא

and he stooped

וַיִּקֹּ֥ד

with his face

אַפַּ֛יִם

to the ground

אַ֖רְצָה

and bowed

וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃

answered

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Samuel

שְׁמוּאֵל֙

And Saul

שָׁ֠אוּל

 

לָ֥מָּה

Why hast thou disquieted

הִרְגַּזְתַּ֖נִי

me to bring me up

לְהַֽעֲל֣וֹת

 

אֹתִ֑י

answered

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Saul

שָׁ֠אוּל

distressed

צַר

 

לִ֨י

I am sore

מְאֹ֜ד

for the Philistines

וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣ים׀

make war

נִלְחָמִ֣ים

 

בִּ֗י

against me and God

וֵֽאלֹהִ֞ים

is departed

סָ֤ר

 

מֵֽעָלַי֙

 

וְלֹֽא

from me and answereth

עָנָ֣נִי

 

ע֗וֹד

 

גַּ֤ם

me no more neither by

בְּיַֽד

prophets

הַנְּבִיאִם֙

nor by dreams

בַּ֣חֲלֹמ֔וֹת

therefore I have called

וָֽאֶקְרָאֶ֣ה

 

לְךָ֔

thee that thou mayest make known

לְהֽוֹדִיעֵ֖נִי

 

מָ֥ה

unto me what I shall do

אֶֽעֱשֶֽׂה׃

Then said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

Samuel

שְׁמוּאֵ֔ל

 

וְלָ֖מָּה

Wherefore then dost thou ask

תִּשְׁאָלֵ֑נִי

of me seeing the LORD

וַֽיהוָ֛ה

is departed

סָ֥ר

 

מֵֽעָלֶ֖יךָ

 

וַיְהִ֥י

from thee and is become thine enemy

עָרֶֽךָ׃

hath done

וַיַּ֤עַשׂ

And the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

 

ל֔וֹ

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר

to him as he spake

דִּבֶּ֣ר

by me

מִיָּדֶ֔ךָ

hath rent

וַיִּקְרַ֨ע

And the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

 

אֶת

the kingdom

הַמַּמְלָכָה֙

by me

מִיָּדֶ֔ךָ

and given

וַֽיִּתְּנָ֖הּ

it to thy neighbour

לְרֵֽעֲךָ֥

even to David

לְדָוִֽד׃

Because

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר

 

לֹֽא

thou obeyedst

שָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙

not the voice

בְּק֣וֹל

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

וְלֹֽא

done

עָשָֽׂה

his fierce

חֲרוֹן

wrath

אַפּ֖וֹ

upon Amalek

בַּֽעֲמָלֵ֑ק

 

עַל

 

כֵּן֙

this thing

הַדָּבָ֣ר

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

עָשָֽׂה

 

לְךָ֥

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

unto thee this day

הַיּ֥וֹם

also shall deliver

יִתֵּ֥ן

Moreover the LORD

Israel

עִמְּךָ֙

into the hand

בְּיַד

of the Philistines

and to morrow

וּמָחָ֕ר

shalt thou and thy sons

וּבָנֶ֖יךָ

וַיִּפֹּ֤ל

מְלֹא

along

קֽוֹמָתוֹ֙

on the earth

אַ֔רְצָה

afraid

וַיִּרָ֥א

and was sore

מְאֹ֖ד

because of the words

מִדִּבְרֵ֣י

of Samuel

שְׁמוּאֵ֑ל

and there was no strength

כֹּ֙חַ֙

 

לֹא

 

הָ֣יָה

in him for he had eaten

נִבְהַ֣ל

that he was sore

מְאֹ֑ד

and said

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלָ֗יו

 

הִנֵּ֨ה

and have hearkened

וָֽאֶשְׁמַע֙

unto him Behold thine handmaid

שִׁפְחָֽתְךָ֙

thy voice

בְּקוֹלֶ֔ךָ

and I have put

וָֽאָשִׂ֤ים

my life

נַפְשִׁי֙

in my hand

בְּכַפִּ֔י

and have hearkened

וָֽאֶשְׁמַע֙

 

אֶת

unto thy words

דְּבָרֶ֔יךָ

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

which thou spakest

Now therefore I pray thee hearken

of thine handmaid

שִׁפְחָתֶ֔ךָ

and let me set

וְאָשִׂ֧מָה

before

לְפָנֶ֛יךָ

a morsel

of bread

לֶ֖חֶם

thee and eat

וֶֽאֱכ֑וֹל

 

וִיהִ֤י

 

בְךָ֙

that thou mayest have strength

כֹּ֔חַ

 

כִּ֥י

 

תֵלֵ֖ךְ

on thy way

בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃

But he refused

וַיְמָאֵ֗ן

and said

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

 

לֹ֣א

I will not eat

אֹכַ֔ל

compelled

וַיִּפְרְצוּ

 

ב֤וֹ

But his servants

עֲבָדָיו֙

 

וְגַם

together with the woman

הָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה

him and he hearkened

וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע

unto their voice

לְקֹלָ֑ם

So he arose

וַיָּ֙קָם֙

from the earth

מֵֽהָאָ֔רֶץ

and sat

וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב

upon the bed

הַמִּטָּֽה׃

And the woman

וְלָֽאִשָּׁ֤ה

calf

עֵֽגֶל

had a fat

מַרְבֵּק֙

in the house

בַּבַּ֔יִת

and she hasted

וַתְּמַהֵ֖ר

and killed

וַתִּזְבָּחֵ֑הוּ

it and took

וַתִּקַּח

flour

קֶ֣מַח

and kneaded

וַתָּ֔לָשׁ

it and did bake

וַתֹּפֵ֖הוּ

unleavened bread

מַצּֽוֹת׃

And she brought

וַתַּגֵּ֧שׁ

and before

וְלִפְנֵ֥י

Saul

שָׁא֛וּל

and before

וְלִפְנֵ֥י

his servants

עֲבָדָ֖יו

and they did eat

וַיֹּאכֵ֑לוּ

Then they rose up

וַיָּקֻ֥מוּ

 

וַיֵּֽלְכ֖וּ

that night

בַּלַּ֥יְלָה
