and they shall measure

unto the cities

הֶ֣עָרִ֔ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

which are round about

סְבִיבֹ֥ת

him that is slain

הֶֽחָלָֽל׃

 

וְהָיָ֣ה

And it shall be that the city

הָעִ֨יר

which is next

הַקְּרֹבָ֖ה

 

אֶל

unto the slain man

הֶֽחָלָ֑ל

shall take

וְלָֽקְח֡וּ

even the elders

זִקְנֵי֩

And it shall be that the city

הָעִ֨יר

 

הַהִ֜וא

 

עֶגְלַ֣ת

an heifer

בָּקָ֗ר

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

 

לֹֽא

which hath not been wrought with

עֻבַּד֙

 

בָּ֔הּ

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

לֹֽא

and which hath not drawn

מָשְׁכָ֖ה

in the yoke

בְּעֹֽל׃

shall bring down

וְהוֹרִ֡דוּ

And the elders

זִקְנֵי֩

of that city

הָעִ֨יר

 

הַהִ֤וא

 

אֶת

the heifer

הָֽעֶגְלָ֖ה

 

אֶל

there in the valley

בַּנָּֽחַל׃

unto a rough

אֵיתָ֔ן

 

אֲשֶׁ֛ר

 

לֹֽא

which is neither eared

יֵעָבֵ֥ד

 

בּ֖וֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

nor sown

יִזָּרֵ֑עַ

and shall strike off

וְעָֽרְפוּ

the heifer

הָֽעֶגְלָ֖ה

there in the valley

בַּנָּֽחַל׃

shall come near

וְנִגְּשׁ֣וּ

And the priests

הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֮

and by their word

כָּל

shall every controversy

רִ֥יב

 

וְכָל

and every stroke

נָֽגַע׃

 

וְכֹ֗ל

And all the elders

זִקְנֵי֙

of that city

הָעִ֣יר

 

הַהִ֔וא

that are next

הַקְּרֹבִ֖ים

 

אֶל

unto the slain

הֶֽחָלָ֑ל

man shall wash

יִרְחֲצוּ֙

 

אֶת

their hands

יְדֵיהֶ֔ם

 

עַל

over the heifer

הָֽעֶגְלָ֖ה

that is beheaded

הָֽעֲרוּפָ֥ה

in the valley

בַנָּֽחַל׃

And they shall answer

וְעָנ֖וּ

and say

וְאָֽמְר֑וּ

Our hands

יָדֵ֗ינוּ

 

לֹ֤א

have not shed

שָֽׁפְכָה֙

 

אֶת

this blood

הַדָּ֣ם

 

הַזֶּ֔ה

neither have our eyes

וְעֵינֵ֖ינוּ

 

לֹ֥א

seen

רָאֽוּ׃

Be merciful

וְנִכַּפֵּ֥ר

unto thy people

עַמְּךָ֣

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

אֲשֶׁר

whom thou hast redeemed

פָּדִ֙יתָ֙

O LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

וְאַל

and lay

תִּתֵּן֙

And the blood

הַדָּֽם׃

not innocent

נָקִ֔י

charge

בְּקֶ֖רֶב

unto thy people

עַמְּךָ֣

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

Be merciful

וְנִכַּפֵּ֥ר

 

לָהֶ֖ם

And the blood

הַדָּֽם׃

 

וְאַתָּ֗ה

So shalt thou put away

תְּבַעֵ֛ר

blood

הַדָּ֥ם

the guilt of innocent

הַנָּקִ֖י

from among

מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ

 

כִּֽי

you when thou shalt do

תַעֲשֶׂ֥ה

that which is right

הַיָּשָׁ֖ר

in the sight

בְּעֵינֵ֥י

of the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

 

כִּֽי

When thou goest forth

תֵצֵ֥א

to war

לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

 

עַל

against thine enemies

אֹֽיְבֶ֑יךָ

hath delivered

וּנְתָנ֞וֹ

and the LORD

יְהוָ֧ה

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ

them into thine hands

בְּיָדֶ֖ךָ

and thou hast taken

שִׁבְיֽוֹ׃

and thou hast taken

שִׁבְיֽוֹ׃

And seest

וְרָאִיתָ֙

among the captives

בַּשִּׁבְיָ֔ה

to thy wife

לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

 

יְפַת

a beautiful

תֹּ֑אַר

and hast a desire

וְחָֽשַׁקְתָּ֣

 

בָ֔הּ

unto her that thou wouldest have her

וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֥

 

לְךָ֖

to thy wife

לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

Then thou shalt bring

וַֽהֲבֵאתָ֖הּ

 

אֶל

her home

תּ֣וֹךְ

to thine house

בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ

and she shall shave

וְגִלְּחָה֙

her head

רֹאשָׁ֔הּ

and pare

צִפָּרְנֶֽיהָ׃

And she shall put

וְהֵסִ֩ירָה֩

וְהַשְּׂנוּאָ֑ה

and they have born

וְיָֽלְדוּ

him children

הַבֵּ֥ן

הָֽאֲהוּבָ֖ה

and the hated

וְהַשְּׂנוּאָ֑ה

 

וְהָיָ֛ה

and if the firstborn

Then it shall be when

אִמּ֑וֹ

and that when they have chastened

וְיִסְּר֣וּ

 

אֹת֔וֹ

 

וְלֹ֥א

him will not hearken

יִשְׁמַ֖ע

 

אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

lay hold

וְתָ֥פְשׂוּ

 

ב֖וֹ

Then shall his father

אָבִ֣יו

and his mother

וְאִמּ֑וֹ

on him and bring him out

וְהוֹצִ֧יאוּ

 

אֹת֛וֹ

 

אֶל

unto the elders

זִקְנֵ֥י

of his city

עִיר֖וֹ

 

וְאֶל

and unto the gate

שַׁ֥עַר

of his place

מְקֹמֽוֹ׃

And they shall say

וְאָֽמְר֞וּ

בְּנֵ֤נוּ

is stubborn

סוֹרֵ֣ר

and rebellious

וּמֹרֶ֔ה

 

אֵינֶ֥נּוּ

he will not obey

שֹׁמֵ֖עַ

our voice

בְּקֹלֵ֑נוּ

he is a glutton

זוֹלֵ֖ל

and a drunkard

וְסֹבֵֽא׃

shall stone

וּ֠רְגָמֻהוּ

 

כָּל

 

אַנְשֵׁ֨י

of his city

עִיר֤וֹ

him with stones

בָֽאֲבָנִים֙

that he die

וָמֵ֔ת

away

וּבִֽעַרְתָּ֥

evil

הָרָ֖ע

from among

מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ

 

וְכָל

you and all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

shall hear

יִשְׁמְע֥וּ

and fear

וְיִרָֽאוּ׃

And if a man

בְאִ֗ישׁ

have committed a sin

חֵ֛טְא

worthy of

מִשְׁפַּט

death

מָ֖וֶת

and he be to be put to death

וְהוּמָ֑ת

and thou hang

וְתָלִ֥יתָ

 

אֹת֖וֹ

 

עַל

him on a tree

עֵֽץ׃

 

לֹֽא

shall not remain all night

תָלִ֨ין

נִבְלָת֜וֹ
