it that he rent
וַיִּקְרַ֖ע

his clothes
בְּגָדָ֑יו
and covered
וַיִּתְכַּ֣ס
himself with sackcloth
בַּשָּׂ֔ק
and went
וַיָּבֹ֖א
into the house
בֵּ֥ית
of the LORD
יְהוָֽה׃

And he sent
וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח
 
אֶת
Eliakim
אֶלְיָקִ֨ים
 
אֲשֶׁר
 
עַל
which was over the household
הַבַּ֜יִת
and Shebna
וְשֶׁבְנָ֣א
the scribe
הַסֹּפֵ֗ר
 
וְאֵת֙
and the elders
זִקְנֵ֣י
of the priests
הַכֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים
covered
מִתְכַּסִּ֖ים
with sackcloth
בַּשַּׂקִּ֑ים
 
אֶל
to Isaiah
יְשַׁעְיָ֥הוּ
the prophet
הַנָּבִ֖יא
the son
בֶּן

אָמֽוֹץ׃

of trouble
צָרָ֧ה
and of rebuke
וְתֽוֹכֵחָ֛ה
and blasphemy
וּנְאָצָ֖ה
This day
הַיּ֣וֹם
 
הַזֶּ֑ה
 
כִּ֣י
are come
בָ֤אוּ
for the children
בָנִים֙
 
עַד
to the birth
מַשְׁבֵּ֔ר
and there is not strength
וְכֹ֥חַ
 
אַ֖יִן
to bring forth
לְלֵדָֽה׃

the LORD

בַּדְּבָרִ֔ים

אֲשֶׁר֩
hath sent
שְׁלָח֨וֹ
whom the king
מֶֽלֶךְ
of Assyria

his master
אֲדֹנָיו֙
to reproach
לְחָרֵף֙
God
אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ
the living
חַ֔י
and will reprove
וְהוֹכִ֙יחַ֙
all the words
בַּדְּבָרִ֔ים
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
hath heard
שָׁמַ֖ע
the LORD
יְהוָ֣ה
God
אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ
wherefore lift up
וְנָשָׂ֣אתָ
thy prayer
תְפִלָּ֔ה
 
בְּעַ֥ד
for the remnant
הַשְּׁאֵרִ֖ית
that are left
הַנִּמְצָאָֽה׃

Be not afraid
תִּירָא֙

מִפְּנֵ֤י
the words
הַדְּבָרִים֙
 
אֲשֶׁ֣ר
which thou hast heard
שָׁמַ֗עְתָּ
 
אֲשֶׁ֧ר
have blasphemed
גִּדְּפ֛וּ
with which the servants
נַֽעֲרֵ֥י
of the king
מֶֽלֶךְ
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֖וּר
 
אֹתִֽי׃

הִנְנִ֨י
Behold I will send
נֹתֵ֥ן
 
בּוֹ֙
a blast
ר֔וּחַ
upon him and he shall hear
וְשָׁמַ֥ע
a rumour
שְׁמוּעָ֖ה
and shall return
וְשָׁ֣ב
in his own land
בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃
and I will cause him to fall
וְהִפַּלְתִּ֥יו
by the sword
בַּחֶ֖רֶב
in his own land
בְּאַרְצֽוֹ׃

וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙
So Rabshakeh

and found
וַיִּמְצָא֙
 
אֶת
the king
מֶ֣לֶךְ
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֔וּר
warring
נִלְחָ֖ם
 
עַל
against Libnah
לִבְנָ֑ה
 
כִּ֣י
for he had heard
שָׁמַ֔ע
 
כִּ֥י
that he was departed
נָסַ֖ע
from Lachish
מִלָּכִֽישׁ׃

And when he heard
וַיִּשְׁמַ֗ע
 
אֶל
of Tirhakah
תִּרְהָ֤קָה
king
מֶֽלֶך
of Ethiopia
כּוּשׁ֙
say
לֵאמֹֽר׃
 
הִנֵּ֥ה
Behold he is come out
יָצָ֖א
to fight
לְהִלָּחֵ֣ם
 
אִתָּ֑ךְ

וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙
against thee he sent

in whom thou trustest

to all lands
הָֽאֲרָצ֖וֹת
by destroying them utterly
לְהַֽחֲרִימָ֑ם
 
וְאַתָּ֖ה
and shalt thou be delivered
תִּנָּצֵֽל׃

of the nations

as Gozan
גּוֹזָ֖ן
 
וְאֶת
and Haran
חָרָ֑ן
and Rezeph
וְרֶ֥צֶף
and the children
וּבְנֵי
of Eden
עֶ֖דֶן
 
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
which were in Thelasar
בִּתְלַאשָּֽׂר׃

And Hezekiah

O LORD

and said

הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙

which dwellest

between the cherubims
הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים

לְבַדְּךָ֔
 
לְכֹ֖ל
even thou alone of all the kingdoms
מַמְלְכ֣וֹת
and earth
הָאָֽרֶץ׃

thou hast made
עָשִׂ֔יתָ

heaven
הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם
 
וְאֶת
and earth

bow down
הַטֵּ֨ה

and hear

open
פְּקַ֧ח

thine eyes
עֵינֶ֖יךָ
and see
וּרְאֵ֑ה
and hear

the words

of Sennacherib
סַנְחֵרִ֔יב

which hath sent

Of a truth
אָמְנָ֖ם
LORD
יְהוָ֑ה
have destroyed
הֶֽחֱרִ֜יבוּ
the kings
מַלְכֵ֥י
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֛וּר
 
אֶת
the nations
הַגּוֹיִ֖ם
 
וְאֶת
and their lands
אַרְצָֽם׃

And have cast
וְנָֽתְנ֥וּ
 
אֶת
for they were no gods
אֱלֹהִ֜ים
into the fire
בָּאֵ֑שׁ
 
כִּי֩
 
לֹ֨א
for they were no gods
אֱלֹהִ֜ים
 
הֵ֗מָּה
 
כִּ֣י
 
אִם
but the work
מַֽעֲשֵׂ֧ה
hands
יְדֵֽי
of men's
אָדָ֛ם
wood
עֵ֥ץ
and stone
וָאֶ֖בֶן
therefore they have destroyed
וַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃

וְעַתָּה֙
Now therefore O LORD
יְהוָ֥ה
God
אֱלֹהִ֖ים
I beseech thee save
הֽוֹשִׁיעֵ֥נוּ
 
נָ֖א
thou us out of his hand
מִיָּד֑וֹ
may know
וְיֵֽדְעוּ֙
 
כָּל
that all the kingdoms
מַמְלְכ֣וֹת
of the earth
הָאָ֔רֶץ
 
כִּ֥י
 
אַתָּ֛ה
Now therefore O LORD

לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃

hath despised

thee and laughed thee to scorn
לָֽעֲגָ֣ה
 
לְךָ֗
concerning him The virgin
בְּתוּלַת֙
the daughter
בַּ֖ת
of Zion
צִיּ֔וֹן
at thee
אַֽחֲרֶ֙יךָ֙
her head
רֹ֣אשׁ
hath shaken
הֵנִ֔יעָה
the daughter

of Jerusalem

and lifted up

on high

thine eyes
עֵינֶ֖יךָ

even against the Holy

One of Israel

בְּיַ֣ד
thy messengers
מַלְאָכֶיךָ֮
thou hast reproached
חֵרַ֣פְתָּ׀
the Lord
אֲדֹנָי֒
and hast said
וַתֹּ֗אמֶר
With the multitude
בְּרֹ֥כב
of my chariots
רִכְבִּ֛י
 
אֲנִ֥י
I am come up
עָלִ֛יתִי
to the height
מְר֥וֹם
of the mountains
הָרִ֖ים
to the sides
יַרְכְּתֵ֣י
of Lebanon
לְבָנ֑וֹן
and will cut down
וְאֶכְרֹ֞ת
the tall
קוֹמַ֤ת
cedar trees
אֲרָזָיו֙
thereof and the choice
מִבְח֣וֹר
fir trees
בְּרֹשָׁ֔יו
thereof and I will enter
וְאָב֙וֹאָה֙
into the lodgings
מְל֣וֹן
of his borders
קִצֹּ֔ה
and into the forest
יַ֖עַר
of his Carmel
כַּרְמִלּֽוֹ׃

אֲנִ֣י
I have digged
קַ֔רְתִּי
and drunk
וְשָׁתִ֖יתִי
waters
מַ֣יִם
strange
זָרִ֑ים
have I dried
וְאַחְרִב֙
and with the sole
בְּכַף
of my feet
פְּעָמַ֔י
 
כֹּ֖ל
up all the rivers
יְאֹרֵ֥י
of besieged places
מָצֽוֹר׃

הֲלֹֽא
Hast thou not heard
שָׁמַ֤עְתָּ
long ago
לְמֵֽרָחוֹק֙
 
אֹתָ֣הּ
how I have done
עָשִׂ֔יתִי
times
לְמִ֥ימֵי
it and of ancient
קֶ֖דֶם
that I have formed
וִֽיצַרְתִּ֑יהָ
 
עַתָּ֣ה
it now have I brought
הֲבֵיאתִ֗יהָ
 
וּתְהִ֗י
it to pass that thou shouldest be to lay waste
לַהְשׁ֛וֹת
heaps
גַּלִּ֥ים
into ruinous
נִצִּ֖ים
cities
עָרִ֥ים
fenced
בְּצֻרֽוֹת׃

Therefore their inhabitants
וְיֹֽשְׁבֵיהֶן֙
were of small
קִצְרֵי
power
יָ֔ד
they were dismayed
חַ֖תּוּ
and confounded
וַיֵּבֹ֑שׁוּ
 
הָי֞וּ
they were as the grass
עֵ֤שֶׂב
of the field
שָׂדֶה֙
and as the green
וִ֣ירַק
herb
דֶּ֔שֶׁא
as the grass
חֲצִ֣יר
on the housetops
גַּגּ֔וֹת
and as corn blasted
וּשְׁדֵפָ֖ה
before
לִפְנֵ֥י
it be grown up
קָמָֽה׃

thy abode
וְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛
and thy going out
וְצֵֽאתְךָ֥
and thy coming in
וּבֹֽאֲךָ֖
But I know
יָדָ֑עְתִּי
 
וְאֵ֖ת
and thy rage
הִֽתְרַגֶּזְךָ֥
 
אֵלָֽי׃

יַ֚עַן
Because thy rage
הִתְרַגֶּזְךָ֣
 
אֵלַ֔י
against me and thy tumult
וְשַֽׁאֲנַנְךָ֖
is come up
עָלָ֣ה
into mine ears
בְאָזְנָ֑י
therefore I will put
וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י
my hook
חַחִ֜י
in thy nose
בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ
and my bridle
וּמִתְגִּי֙
in thy lips
בִּשְׂפָתֶ֔יךָ
and I will turn thee back
וַהֲשִׁ֣בֹתִ֔יךָ
by the way
בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ
 
אֲשֶׁר
by which thou camest
בָּ֥אתָ
 
בָּֽהּ׃

וְזֶה
 
לְּךָ֣
And this shall be a sign
הָא֔וֹת
and eat
וְאִכְל֥וּ
this year
וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה
such things as grow
סָפִ֔יחַ
this year
וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה
of themselves and in the second
הַשֵּׁנִ֖ית
that which springeth
סָחִ֑ישׁ
this year
וּבַשָּׁנָ֣ה
of the same and in the third
הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗ית
sow
זִרְע֧וּ
ye and reap
וְקִצְר֛וּ
and plant
וְנִטְע֥וּ
vineyards
כְרָמִ֖ים
and eat
וְאִכְל֥וּ
the fruits
פִרְיָֽם׃

shall yet again
וְיָ֨סְפָ֜ה
that is escaped
פְּלֵיטַ֧ת
of the house
בֵּית
of Judah
יְהוּדָ֛ה
And the remnant
הַנִּשְׁאָרָ֖ה
take root
שֹׁ֣רֶשׁ
downward
לְמָ֑טָּה
and bear
וְעָשָׂ֥ה
fruit
פְרִ֖י
upward
לְמָֽעְלָה׃

כִּ֤י
For out of Jerusalem
מִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙
shall go forth
תֵּצֵ֣א
a remnant
שְׁאֵרִ֔ית
and they that escape
וּפְלֵיטָ֖ה
out of mount
מֵהַ֣ר
Zion
צִיּ֑וֹן
the zeal
קִנְאַ֛ת
of the LORD
יְהוָ֥ה
 
צְבָ֖אוֹת
shall do
תַּֽעֲשֶׂה
 
זֹּֽאת׃
32
 
לָכֵ֗ן
 
כֹּֽה
Therefore thus saith
אָמַ֤ר
the LORD
יְהוָה֙
 
אֶל
concerning the king
מֶ֣לֶךְ
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֔וּר
 
לֹ֤א
He shall not come
יָבֹא֙
 
אֶל
into this city
הָעִ֣יר
 
הַזֹּ֔את
 
וְלֹֽא
nor shoot
יוֹרֶ֥ה
 
שָׁ֖ם
an arrow
חֵ֑ץ
 
וְלֹֽא
there nor come before
יְקַדְּמֶ֣נָּה
it with shield
מָגֵ֔ן
 
וְלֹֽא
nor cast
יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ
 
עָלֶ֖יהָ
a bank
סֹֽלְלָֽה׃

By the way
בַּדֶּ֥רֶךְ
 
אֲשֶׁר
and shall not come
יָבֹ֖א
 
בָּ֣הּ
by the same shall he return
יָשׁ֑וּב
 
וְאֶל
into this city
הָעִ֥יר
 
הַזֹּ֛את
 
לֹ֥א
and shall not come
יָבֹ֖א
saith
נְאֻם
the LORD
יְהוָֽה׃
34
For I will defend
וְגַנּוֹתִ֛י
 
אֶל
this city
הָעִ֥יר
 
הַזֹּ֖את
to save
לְהֽוֹשִׁיעָ֑הּ
 
לְמַֽעֲנִ֔י
 
וּלְמַ֖עַן
David's
דָּוִ֥ד
it for mine own sake and for my servant
עַבְדִּֽי׃

וַיְהִי֮
And it came to pass that night
בַּלַּ֣יְלָה
 
הַהוּא֒
went out
וַיֵּצֵ֣א׀
that the angel
מַלְאַ֣ךְ
of the LORD
יְהוָ֗ה
and smote
וַיַּךְ֙
in the camp
בְּמַֽחֲנֵ֣ה
of the Assyrians
אַשּׁ֔וּר
an hundred
מֵאָ֛ה
fourscore
שְׁמוֹנִ֥ים
and five
וַֽחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה
thousand
אָ֑לֶף
and when they arose early
וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ
in the morning
בַבֹּ֔קֶר
 
וְהִנֵּ֥ה
 
כֻלָּ֖ם
corpses
פְּגָרִ֥ים
behold they were all dead
מֵתִֽים׃

departed
וַיִּסַּ֣ע
 
וַיֵּ֔לֶךְ
and returned
וַיָּ֖שָׁב
So Sennacherib
סַנְחֵרִ֣יב

מֶֽלֶךְ
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֑וּר
and dwelt
וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב
at Nineveh
בְּנִֽינְוֵֽה׃

And it came to pass as he was worshipping
מִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֜ה
in the house
בֵּ֣ית׀
of Nisroch
נִסְרֹ֣ךְ
his god
אֱלֹהָ֗יו
that Adrammelech
וְֽאַדְרַמֶּ֨לֶךְ
and Sharezer
וְשַׂרְאֶ֤צֶר
his son
בְּנ֖וֹ
smote
הִכֻּ֣הוּ
him with the sword
בַחֶ֔רֶב
 
וְהֵ֥מָּה
and they escaped
נִמְלְט֖וּ
into the land
אֶ֣רֶץ
of Armenia
אֲרָרָ֑ט
reigned
וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ
 
אֵֽסַר
And Esarhaddon
חַדֹּ֥ן
his son
בְּנ֖וֹ
 
תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
