of Jerusalem

backsliding

מְשֻׁבָ֣ה

by a perpetual

נִצַּ֑חַת

they hold

הֶחֱזִ֙יקוּ֙

fast deceit

בַּתַּרְמִ֔ית

they refuse

מֵאֲנ֖וּ

slidden back

לָשֽׁוּב׃

I hearkened

הִקְשַׁ֤בְתִּי

and heard

וָֽאֶשְׁמָע֙

 

לוֹא

 

כֵ֣ן

but they spake not aright

יְדַבֵּ֔רוּ

 

אֵ֣ין

no man

אִ֗ישׁ

repented

נִחָם֙

him of

עַל

his wickedness

רָ֣עָת֔וֹ

saying

לֵאמֹ֖ר

 

מֶ֣ה

What have I done

עָשִׂ֑יתִי

 

כֻּלֹּ֗ה

every one turned

שָׁ֚ב

to his course

בִּמְר֣צּוָתָ֔ם

as the horse

כְּס֥וּס

rusheth

שׁוֹטֵ֖ף

into the battle

בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

 

גַּם

Yea the stork

חֲסִידָ֣ה

in the heaven

בַשָּׁמַ֗יִם

know

יָֽדְע֔וּ

her appointed times

מֽוֹעֲדֶ֔יהָ

and the turtle

וְתֹ֤ר

and the crane

וְסִוס֙

and the swallow

וְעָג֔וּר

observe

שָׁמְר֖וּ

 

אֶת

the time

עֵ֣ת

of their coming

בֹּאָ֑נָה

but my people

וְעַמִּ֕י

 

לֹ֣א

know

יָֽדְע֔וּ

 

אֵ֖ת

not the judgment

מִשְׁפַּ֥ט

of the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

 

אֵיכָ֤ה

How do ye say

תֹֽאמְרוּ֙

We are wise

חֲכָמִ֣ים

 

אֲנַ֔חְנוּ

and the law

וְתוֹרַ֥ת

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אִתָּ֑נוּ

is with us Lo certainly

אָכֵן֙

 

הִנֵּ֣ה

in vain

שֶׁ֥קֶר

made

עָשָׂ֔ה

he it the pen

עֵ֖ט

in vain

שֶׁ֥קֶר

of the scribes

סֹפְרִֽים׃

 

הֹבִ֣ישׁוּ

The wise

חֲכָמִ֔ים

they are dismayed

חַ֖תּוּ

and taken

וַיִּלָּכֵ֑דוּ

 

הִנֵּ֤ה

the word

בִדְבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָה֙

lo they have rejected

מָאָ֔סוּ

and what wisdom

וְחָכְמַ֥ת

Therefore will I give

אֶתֵּ֨ן

their wives

נְשֵׁיהֶ֜ם

unto others

לַאֲחֵרִ֗ים

and their fields

שְׂדֽוֹתֵיהֶם֙

to them that shall inherit

לְי֣וֹרְשִׁ֔ים

 

כִּ֤י

them for every one from the least

מִקָּטֹן֙

 

וְעַד

even unto the greatest

גָּד֔וֹל

 

כֻּלֹּ֖ה

is given

בֹּצֵ֣עַ

to covetousness

בָּ֑צַע

from the prophet

מִנָּבִיא֙

 

וְעַד

even unto the priest

every one dealeth

וְהֶֽעָלֶה֙

and the things that I have given

of his strong ones

the land

אֶ֣רֶץ

for they are come

וַיָּב֗וֹאוּ

and have devoured

וַיֹּֽאכְלוּ֙

וּמְלוֹאָ֔הּ

and those that dwell

For behold I will send

מְשַׁלֵּ֜חַ

 

בָּכֶ֗ם

serpents

נְחָשִׁים֙

cockatrices

צִפְעֹנִ֔ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

אֵין

 

לָהֶ֖ם

among you which will not be charmed

לָ֑חַשׁ

and they shall bite

וְנִשְּׁכ֥וּ

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

you saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

When I would comfort

מַבְלִ֥יגִיתִ֖י

 

עֲלֵ֣י

myself against sorrow

יָג֑וֹן

Behold the voice

because of them that dwell in a far

is not her king
