We made an invasion

and upon the coast which belongeth to Judah

and we burned

שָׂרַ֥פְנוּ

with fire

בָאֵֽשׁ׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר

 

אֵלָיו֙

And David

דָּוִ֔ד

and I will bring thee down

וְאוֹרִֽדְךָ֖

 

אֶל

to this company

הַגְּד֥וּד

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

And he said

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר

Swear

הִשָּֽׁבְעָה֩

 

לִּ֨י

unto me by God

בֵֽאלֹהִ֜ים

me nor

וְאִם

that thou wilt neither kill

תְּמִיתֵ֗נִי

me nor

וְאִם

deliver

תַּסְגִּרֵ֙נִי֙

me into the hands

בְּיַד

of my master

אֲדֹנִ֔י

and I will bring thee down

וְאוֹרִֽדְךָ֖

 

אֶל

to this company

הַגְּד֥וּד

 

הַזֶּֽה׃

And when he had brought him down

וַיֹּ֣רִדֵ֔הוּ

 

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

behold they were spread abroad

נְטֻשִׁ֖ים

 

עַל

upon all

פְּנֵ֣י

and out of the land

וּמֵאֶ֥רֶץ

eating

אֹֽכְלִ֤ים

and drinking

וְשֹׁתִים֙

and dancing

and men of Belial

Because they went

and said

וַיֹּֽאמְר֗וּ

 

יַ֚עַן

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹֽא

Because they went

וְיֵלֵֽכוּ׃

לֹֽא

not with us we will not give

נִתֵּ֣ן

 

לָהֶ֔ם

them ought of the spoil

that we have recovered

David

דָּוִ֔ד

 

לֹֽא

Ye shall not do so

תַעֲשׂ֥וּ

 

כֵ֖ן

my brethren

אֶחָ֑י

 

אֵ֠ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

hath given

וַיִּתֵּ֗ן

with that which the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

 

לָ֙נוּ֙

us who hath preserved

וַיִּשְׁמֹ֣ר

 

אֹתָ֔נוּ

hath given

וַיִּתֵּ֗ן

 

אֶֽת

the company

הַגְּד֛וּד

that came

הַבָּ֥א

 

עָלֵ֖ינוּ

against us into our hand

בְּיָדֵֽנוּ׃

For who will hearken

יִשְׁמַ֣ע

 

לָכֶ֔ם

unto you in this matter

for you of the spoil

unto the elders

לְזִקְנֵ֥י

of Judah

even to his friends

לְרֵעֵ֣הוּ

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

הִנֵּ֤ה

 

לָכֶם֙

Behold a present

בְּרָכָ֔ה

for you of the spoil

מִשְּׁלַ֖ל

of the enemies

אֹֽיְבֵ֥י

of the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

To them

וְלַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

בְּבֵֽית

which were in Bethel

אֵ֛ל

בְּרָמֽוֹת
