צְבָאָֽהּ׃

וְנָפְל֥וּ

Thus the slain

חֲלָלִ֖ים

in the land

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

of the Chaldeans

כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים

and they that are thrust through

וּמְדֻקָּרִ֖ים

in her streets

בְּחוּצוֹתֶֽיהָ׃

לֹֽא

hath not been forsaken

אַלְמָ֨ן

For Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

nor Judah

וִֽיהוּדָה֙

of his God

מֵֽאֱלֹהָ֔יו

of the LORD

מֵֽיְהוָ֖ה

of hosts

צְבָא֑וֹת

 

כִּ֤י

though their land

אַרְצָם֙

was filled

מָלְאָ֣ה

with sin

אָשָׁ֔ם

against the Holy One

מִקְּד֖וֹשׁ

For Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Flee out

נֻ֣סוּ׀

of the midst

מִתּ֣וֹךְ

of Babylon

בָּבֶ֗ל

and deliver

וּמַלְּטוּ֙

every man

אִ֣ישׁ

his soul

נַפְשׁ֔וֹ

 

אַל

be not cut off

תִּדַּ֖מּוּ

in her iniquity

בַּעֲוֺנָ֑הּ

 

כִּי֩

for this is the time

עֵ֨ת

vengeance

נְקָמָ֥ה

 

הִיא֙

of the LORD'S

לַֽיהוָ֔ה

unto her a recompence

גְּמ֕וּל

 

ה֥וּא

he will render

מְשַׁלֵּ֖ם

the nations

are mad

יִתְהֹלְל֥וּ

is suddenly

פִּתְאֹ֛ם

fallen

נָפְלָ֥ה

Babylon

בָבֶ֖ל

and destroyed

וַתִּשָּׁבֵ֑ר

howl

הֵילִ֣ילוּ

 

עָלֶ֗יהָ

for her take

קְח֤וּ

balm

צֳרִי֙

for her pain

לְמַכְאוֹבָ֔הּ

 

אוּלַ֖י

if so be she may be healed

תֵּרָפֵֽא׃

We would have healed

נִרְפָּ֔תָה

הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

for her judgment

מִשְׁפָּטָ֔הּ

and is lifted up

וְנִשָּׂ֖א

 

עַד

even to the skies

שְׁחָקִֽים׃

hath brought forth

הוֹצִ֥יא

The LORD

our righteousness

צִדְקֹתֵ֑ינוּ

come

בֹּ֚אוּ

and let us declare

וּנְסַפְּרָ֣ה

in Zion

בְצִיּ֔וֹן

the work

מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה

The LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

Make bright

הָבֵ֣רוּ

the arrows

הַחִצִּים֮

saying Surely I will fill

מִלֵּאתִ֤יךְ

thee with men

אָדָם֙

as with caterpillers

כַּיֶּ֔לֶק

and they shall lift up

וְעָנ֥וּ

 

עָלַ֖יִךְ

a shout

הֵידָֽד׃

He hath made

עֹשֵׂ֥ה

the earth

אֶ֙רֶץ֙

by his power

בְּכֹח֔וֹ

he hath established

מֵכִ֥ין

the world

תֵּבֵ֖ל

by his wisdom

בְּחָכְמָת֑וֹ

by his understanding

וּבִתְבוּנָת֖וֹ

and hath stretched out

נָטָ֥ה

the heaven

שָׁמָֽיִם׃

his voice

לְק֨וֹל

When he uttereth

תִּתּ֜וֹ

there is a multitude

הֲמ֥וֹן

of waters

מַ֙יִם֙

in the heavens

בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם

to ascend

וַיַּ֥עַל

and he causeth the vapours

נְשִׂאִ֖ים

from the ends

מִקְצֵה

of the earth

אָ֑רֶץ

lightnings

בְּרָקִ֤ים

with rain

לַמָּטָר֙

he maketh

עָשָׂ֔ה

and bringeth forth

the nations

גּוֹיִ֔ם

and with thee will I destroy

וְהִשְׁחַתִּ֥י

 

בְךָ֖

kingdoms

מַמְלָכֽוֹת׃

And with thee will I break in pieces

וְנִפַּצְתִּ֣י

 

בְךָ֔

the horse

ס֖וּס

and his rider

וְרֹכְבֽוֹ׃

And with thee will I break in pieces

the chariot

רֶ֖כֶב

With thee also will I break in pieces

And I will render

וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֨י

unto Babylon

לְבָבֶ֜ל

and to all the inhabitants

יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י

of Chaldea

כַשְׂדִּ֗ים

 

אֵ֧ת

 

כָּל

all their evil

רָעָתָ֛ם

 

אֲשֶׁר

that they have done

עָשׂ֥וּ

in Zion

בְצִיּ֖וֹן

in your sight

לְעֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם

saith

נְאֻ֖ם

the LORD

אֵלֶ֜יךָ

mountain

לְהַ֥ר

Behold I am against thee O destroying

הַמַּשְׁחִית֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

which destroyest

all the earth

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and I will stretch out

וְנָטִ֨יתִי

mine hand

עָלֶ֗יךָ

upon thee and roll thee down

וְגִלְגַּלְתִּ֙יךָ֙

 

מִן

from the rocks

הַסְּלָעִ֔ים

and will make

וּנְתַתִּ֖יךָ

mountain

לְהַ֥ר

thee a burnt

שְׂרֵפָֽה׃

 

וְלֹֽא

And they shall not take

יִקְח֤וּ

 

מִמְּךָ֙

nor a stone

וְאֶ֖בֶן

for a corner

לְפִנָּ֔ה

nor a stone

וְאֶ֖בֶן

for foundations

לְמֽוֹסָד֑וֹת

 

כִּֽי

but thou shalt be desolate

שִׁמְמ֥וֹת

to thresh

הִדְרִיכָ֑הּ

her yet a little while

מְעַ֔ט

shall come

וּבָ֥אָה

and the time

עֵֽת

of her harvest

הַקָּצִ֖יר

 

לָֽהּ׃

hath devoured

אֲכָלַ֣נִו

me he hath crushed

הֲמָמַ֗נִו

Therefore thus saith

אָמַ֣ר

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

הִנְנִי

Behold I will plead

רָב֙

 

אֶת

thy cause

רִיבֵ֔ךְ

and take vengeance

וְנִקַּמְתִּ֖י

 

אֶת

for thee

נִקְמָתֵ֑ךְ

and I will dry up

וְהַחֲרַבְתִּי֙

 

אֶת

her sea

יַמָּ֔הּ

dry

וְהֹבַשְׁתִּ֖י

 

אֶת

and make her springs

מְקוֹרָֽהּ׃

 

וְהָיְתָה֩

And Babylon

בָבֶ֨ל׀

shall become heaps

לְגַלִּ֧ים׀

a dwellingplace

מְעוֹן

for dragons

תַּנִּ֛ים

an astonishment

שַׁמָּ֥ה

and an hissing

וּשְׁרֵקָ֖ה

 

מֵאֵ֥ין

without an inhabitant

יוֹשֵֽׁב׃

together

יַחְדָּ֖ו

like lions

כַּכְּפִרִ֣ים

They shall roar

יִשְׁאָ֑גוּ

they shall yell

נָעֲר֖וּ

whelps

כְּגוֹרֵ֥י

as lions

אֲרָיֽוֹת׃

In their heat

בְּחֻמָּ֞ם

I will make

אָשִׁ֣ית

 

אֶת

their feasts

מִשְׁתֵּיהֶ֗ם

and I will make them drunken

וְהִשְׁכַּרְתִּים֙

 

לְמַ֣עַן

that they may rejoice

יַעֲלֹ֔זוּ

and sleep

וְיָשְׁנ֥וּ

sleep

שְׁנַת

a perpetual

עוֹלָ֖ם

 

וְלֹ֣א

and not wake

יָקִ֑יצוּ

saith

נְאֻ֖ם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

I will bring them down

אֽוֹרִידֵ֖ם

like lambs

כְּכָרִ֣ים

to the slaughter

לִטְב֑וֹחַ

like rams

כְּאֵילִ֖ים

 

עִם

וְחָמָ֣ס

in the land

בָּאָ֔רֶץ

against ruler

מֹשֵֽׁל׃

לָכֵן֙

 

הִנֵּ֣ה

Therefore behold the days

יָמִ֣ים

come

בָּאִ֔ים

that I will do judgment

וּפָקַדְתִּי֙

 

עַל

upon the graven images

פְּסִילֵ֣י

of Babylon

בָבֶ֔ל

 

וְכָל

and her whole land

אַרְצָ֖הּ

shall be confounded

תֵּב֑וֹשׁ

 

וְכָל

and all her slain

חֲלָלֶ֖יהָ

shall fall

יִפְּל֥וּ

in the midst

בְתוֹכָֽהּ׃

and all that is therein shall sing

וְרִנְּנ֤וּ

 

עַל

for Babylon

בָּבֶל֙

Then the heaven

שָׁמַ֣יִם

and the earth

וָאָ֔רֶץ

 

וְכֹ֖ל

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

בָּהֶ֑ם

 

כִּ֧י

unto her from the north

מִצָּפ֛וֹן

shall come

יָבוֹא

 

לָ֥הּ

for the spoilers

הַשּׁוֹדְדִ֖ים

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

Babylon

לְבָבֶ֥ל

shall fall

נָפְל֖וּ

hath caused the slain

חַֽלְלֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

כָל

of all the earth

הָאָֽרֶץ׃

 

פְּלֵטִ֣ים

the sword

מֵחֶ֔רֶב

go away

הִלְכ֖וּ

 

אַֽל

stand not still

תַּעֲמֹ֑דוּ

remember

זִכְר֤וּ

afar off

מֵֽרָחוֹק֙

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

and let Jerusalem

וִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

come

תַּעֲלֶ֥ה

 

עַל

into your mind

לְבַבְכֶֽם׃

We are confounded

בֹּ֚שְׁנוּ

 

כִּֽי

because we have heard

שָׁמַ֣עְנוּ

reproach

חֶרְפָּ֔ה

hath covered

כִּסְּתָ֥ה

shame

כְלִמָּ֖ה

our faces

פָּנֵ֑ינוּ

 

כִּ֚י

are come

בָּ֣אוּ

for strangers

זָרִ֔ים

 

עַֽל

into the sanctuaries

מִקְדְּשֵׁ֖י

house

בֵּ֥ית

of the LORD'S

יְהוָֽה׃

 

לָכֵ֞ן

 

הִנֵּֽה

Wherefore behold the days

יָמִ֤ים

come

בָּאִים֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

that I will do judgment

וּפָקַדְתִּ֖י

 

עַל

upon her graven images

פְּסִילֶ֑יהָ

 

וּבְכָל

and through all her land

אַרְצָ֖הּ

shall groan

יֶאֱנֹ֥ק

the wounded

חָלָֽל׃

 

כִּֽי

should mount up

תַעֲלֶ֤ה

Though Babylon

בָבֶל֙

to heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

 

וְכִ֥י

and though she should fortify

תְבַצֵּ֖ר

the height

מְר֣וֹם

of her strength

עֻזָּ֑הּ

 

מֵאִתִּ֗י

come

יָבֹ֧אוּ

me shall spoilers

שֹׁדְדִ֛ים

 

לָ֖הּ

unto her saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

A sound

ק֥וֹל

of a cry

זְעָקָ֖ה

cometh from Babylon

מִבָּבֶ֑ל

destruction

וְשֶׁ֥בֶר

and great

גָּד֖וֹל

from the land

מֵאֶ֥רֶץ

of the Chaldeans

כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃

 

כִּֽי

hath spoiled

שֹׁדֵ֤ד

Because the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

אֶת

Babylon

בָּבֶ֔ל

and destroyed

וְאִבַּ֥ד

 

מִמֶּ֖נָּה

of their voice

קוֹלָֽם׃

out of her the great

גָּד֑וֹל

do roar

וְהָמ֤וּ

when her waves

גַלֵּיהֶם֙

waters

כְּמַ֣יִם

like great

רַבִּ֔ים

is uttered

נִתַּ֥ן

a noise

שְׁא֖וֹן

of their voice

קוֹלָֽם׃

 

כִּי֩

is come

בָ֨א

 

עָלֶ֤יהָ

 

עַל

upon her even upon Babylon

בָּבֶל֙

Because the spoiler

שׁוֹדֵ֔ד

are taken

וְנִלְכְּדוּ֙

and her mighty men

גִּבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ

is broken

חִתְּתָ֖ה

every one of their bows

קַשְּׁתוֹתָ֑ם

 

כִּ֣י

God

אֵ֧ל

of recompences

גְּמֻל֛וֹת

for the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

requite

יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

requite

יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

And I will make drunk

וְ֠הִשְׁכַּרְתִּי

her princes

שָׂרֶ֨יהָ

and her wise

וַחֲכָמֶ֜יהָ

men her captains

פַּחוֹתֶ֤יהָ

and her rulers

וּסְגָנֶ֙יהָ֙

and her mighty men

וְגִבּוֹרֶ֔יהָ

and they shall sleep

וְיָשְׁנ֥וּ

sleep

שְׁנַת

a perpetual

עוֹלָ֖ם

 

וְלֹ֣א

and not wake

יָקִ֑יצוּ

saith

The broad

הָֽרְחָבָה֙

broken

תִּתְעַרְעָ֔ר

gates

וּשְׁעָרֶ֥יהָ

and her high

הַגְּבֹהִ֖ים

the fire

אֵ֖שׁ

shall be burned

יִצַּ֑תּוּ

shall labour

וְיִֽגְע֨וּ

and the people

עַמִּ֧ים

in

בְּדֵי

in vain

רִ֛יק

and the folk

וּלְאֻמִּ֥ים

in

בְּדֵי

the fire

אֵ֖שׁ

and they shall be weary

וְיָעֵֽפוּ׃

and shalt see

וְֽרָאִ֔יתָ

and shalt read

וְֽקָרָ֔אתָ

all these words

הַדְּבָרִ֖ים

 

הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

Then shalt thou say

וְאָמַרְתָּ֗

O LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

אַתָּ֨ה

thou hast spoken

דִבַּ֜רְתָּ

 

אֶל

against this place

הַמָּק֤וֹם

 

הַזֶּה֙

to cut it off

לְהַכְרִית֔וֹ

 

לְבִלְתִּ֤י

 

הֱיֽוֹת

 

בּוֹ֙

that none shall remain

יוֹשֵׁ֔ב

in it neither man

לְמֵאָדָ֖ם

 

וְעַד

nor beast

בְּהֵמָ֑ה

 

כִּֽי

but that it shall be desolate

שִׁמְמ֥וֹת

for ever

עוֹלָ֖ם

 

תִּֽהְיֶֽה׃

 

וְהָיָה֙

And it shall be when thou hast made an end

כְּכַלֹּ֣תְךָ֔

לִקְרֹ֖א

this book

הַסֵּ֣פֶר

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

that thou shalt bind

תִּקְשֹׁ֤ר

 

עָלָיו֙

a stone

אֶ֔בֶן

to it and cast

וְהִשְׁלַכְתּ֖וֹ

 

אֶל

it into the midst

תּ֥וֹךְ

of Euphrates

פְּרָֽת׃

And thou shalt say

וְאָמַרְתָּ֗

 

כָּ֠כָה

sink

תִּשְׁקַ֨ע

Thus shall Babylon

בָּבֶ֤ל

 

וְלֹֽא

and shall not rise

תָקוּם֙

from

מִפְּנֵ֣י

the evil

הָרָעָ֗ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

 

אָנֹכִ֛י

that I will bring

מֵבִ֥יא

 

עָלֶ֖יהָ

upon her and they shall be weary

וְיָעֵ֑פוּ

 

עַד

 

הֵ֖נָּה
