which was commanded

And I perceived

וָאֵ֣דְעָ֔ה

that the portions

of the Levites

had not been given

נִתָּ֑נָה

were fled

וַיִּבְרְח֧וּ

every one

אִישׁ

to his field

לְשָׂדֵ֛הוּ

of the Levites

הַלְוִיִּ֥ם

and the singers

וְהַמְשֹֽׁרְרִ֖ים

that did

עֹשֵׂ֥י

the work

הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃

Then contended

וָֽאָרִ֙יבָה֙

I with the rulers

sheaves

and lading

וְֽעֹמְסִ֪ים

asses

הַֽחֲמֹרִ֟ים

 

וְאַף

as also wine

יַ֜יִן

grapes

עֲנָבִ֤ים

and figs

and all manner of burdens

I commanded

וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה

should be shut

וַיִּסָּֽגְר֣וּ

that the gates

הַדְּלָת֔וֹת

I commanded

וָאֹ֣מְרָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

 

לֹ֣א

that they should not be opened

יִפְתָּח֔וּם

 

עַ֖ד

till after

on the sabbath

and some of my servants

וּמִנְּעָרַ֗י

הֶֽעֱמַ֙דְתִּי֙

And it came to pass that when the gates

וָֽאָעִ֣ידָה

אַשְׁדֳּודִיּ֔וֹת

of Ammon

עַמֳּונִיּ֖וֹת

and of Moab

מֽוֹאֲבִיּֽוֹת׃

And their children

וּבְנֵיהֶ֗ם

half

חֲצִי֙

not speak

לְדַבֵּ֣ר

in the speech of Ashdod

אַשְׁדּוֹדִ֔ית

 

וְאֵינָ֥ם

and could

מַכִּירִ֖ים

not speak

לְדַבֵּ֣ר

in the Jews' language

יְהוּדִ֑ית

but according to the language

וְכִלְשׁ֖וֹן

of each people

וָעָֽם׃

And I contended

וָֽאָרִ֤יב

 

עִמָּם֙

with them and cursed

וָאֲקַֽלְלֵ֔ם

of them and plucked off their hair

Thus cleansed

וְטִֽהַרְתִּ֖ים

 

מִכָּל

I them from all strangers

נֵכָ֑ר

and appointed

וָאַֽעֲמִ֧ידָה

the wards

מִשְׁמָר֛וֹת

of the priests

לַכֹּֽהֲנִ֥ים

and the Levites

וְלַלְוִיִּ֖ם
